Starting with a helpful email giving detailed directions to Cook's Lookout the rest of our stay followed in a similar vein. Norm & Shelagh were excellent hosts. Very friendly service including advice on local sites and where to dine in Paihia. The room was well appointed, clean and very comfortable with what would have to be the best view of... More

A little way out of town, but that is also the good news. The view from our little apartment was absolutely spectacular! Norm & Shelagh go above and beyond to make sure you have a wonderful experience!

We definitely saved the best to last with a 6 night stay at Cook's Lookout to end our holiday. The views are just breathtaking in all directions. The facilities were excellent and comfortable and the pool very welcoming - a perfect place for relaxation. Norman and Shelagh were exceptional hosts, very welcoming and helpful, not to mention plenty of witty... More

The view from Cook's Lookout is nothing short of spectacular. We bought great local produce from the Paihia farmers' market and dined on our balcony, the best meal with a view in town! Appreciated the warm welcome (including from the cat) and advice on sightseeing - we'd never have got to Mt Bledisloe wihtout it. The unit was spacious, much... More

I really enjoyed my stay here. I found it to be very quiet and relaxed, which is just what i wanted each night after returning from a conference I was attending. I had a poolside Unit, but could also see the view beyond, which is truly spectacular. The Unit that I had was spacious, well appointed and clean. I travel... More

We had a fabulous view of the Waitangi and the Bay of Islands! Norm and Shelagh were absolutely wonderful. They provided lots of helpful information regarding hikes, restaurants, dolphin cruises, etc. Their enthusiasm was wonderful. Our hotel room was very clean and stylish, and included a kitchenette. It was very comfortable and quiet (and extra pillows were provided).. The entire... More

Norm & Shelagh were helpful from the outset, and were most welcoming and helpful about things to do and places to go. They emailed detailed directions before we left home. The approach to the motel is pretty ordinary, in what seems to be a suburban area, but when you get up there, - and it is up - the views... More

Our stay at the Cooks Look Out with our friends from the Netherlands who were visiting NZ was outstanding. We have stayed there before but the beautifully upgraded rooms and bathroom made it all the more pleasant. We believe you cannot get a better birds view of Waitangi and the Bay of Islands from your own room anywhere in Pahia.... More

We originally booked for 2 nights but stayed for 4 - and would have stayed longer if we hadn't had a flight booked home to the UK! Our accommodation offered truly amazing views - no point in eating out, you couldn't better our terrace for a meal in the evening. The Lookout is a great base - so much you... More

Norm and Shelagh run a wonderful, quiet motel located on a hill with stunning views from all the units overlooking Waitangi and over the bay toward Russell. They were both so helpful , offering advice for walks, places to visit, restaurants, etc. Cooks lookout is about 3km outside of Piahia surrounded in bush win it's own ( very warm) swimming... More
