A gorgeous little privately owned hostel. I stayed in a twin room and was fortunate enough to get the room to myself which is a real luxury when backpacking. The bedrooms were all modern and bright. The communal kitchen/ sitting area was clean and the decor was modern and comfortable. There was a lovely long rustic wooden table for eating... More

and as enjoyable as all others in the past, with the added bonus of the now fabulous uninterrupted sea views from the upper floor, after the eye sore of a building next door has disappeared! Wonderful kitchen to work in (even when it gets busy). Great fellow travellers to enjoy chit/chat with (I'm generally the only NZer there!), and wonderfully... More

This hostal's quality is way beyond a hostal. It's more like a good hotel. No sharing bathroom in the double room, very clean, big rooms, clean kitchen, friendly staff, beautifull place. No free wifi and a little walk from the centre, we had to walk with our backpack from the centre, good doable, but good to know also ;) Defenitly... More

This seems to be an old motel, converted to a backpacker. Fantastic facilities, super clean, great view, great location and our host was really friendly and helpful. I really cannot complain about anything with this place.

Seabeds was our first experience of staying in a backpackers' hostel in New Zealand, and it set a standard that was very hard for hostels we stayed in subsequently to match, never mind beat. It's perfectly located just outside Paihia, with rooms that overlook the bay less than 50 yards away. The view from the terrace outside our rooms each... More

I wanted to save some money during our holiday and decided to stay 3 nights in a backpacker. I chose Seabeds carefully because it seemed to be high level, modern and offered rooms with private bathroom which is mandatory for me. I enquired about a room 8 months (!) before, and Marie Telfer advised me to book via the BBH... More

It's nice to have a hostel that respects backpackers as patrons who enjoy quality. Beach views, great kitchen facilities, comfortable beds, tons of space, everything clean and new, convenient location and an awesome hostel manager make for one of the best hostel experiences I've ever had. And I've stayed at about 55 hostels around the world.

I was somewhat ambivalent about booking this hostel as the Lonely Planet guide described it as 'refurbished', and I wondered how long ago that refurbishment was. But as of November 2014 the rooms look sparkling new and are very clean, tastefully decorated and comfortable. It is easily the nicest hostel I have ever stayed in. I booked to stay in... More

My mother and I stayed in a private twin room. I really enjoyed my stay here. The host is very helpful with anything you need. And her cat is adorable too! The location is great, being so close to a supermarket. Paihia is small enough that it really is easy to walk anywhere. The kitchen is extremely well stocked! And... More

You feel like you are staying in luxury here. It's a hostel that was converted from an old motel. They gutted it by the looks of it and out in new EVERYTHING. It's all brand new and modern. I stayed three nights in a dorm. It's off season so I got a huge room to myself. The bed was very... More
