I wanted to save some money during our holiday and decided to stay 3 nights in a backpacker. I chose Seabeds carefully because it seemed to be high level, modern and offered rooms with private bathroom which is mandatory for me. I enquired about a room 8 months (!) before, and Marie Telfer advised me to book via the BBH... More

It's nice to have a hostel that respects backpackers as patrons who enjoy quality. Beach views, great kitchen facilities, comfortable beds, tons of space, everything clean and new, convenient location and an awesome hostel manager make for one of the best hostel experiences I've ever had. And I've stayed at about 55 hostels around the world.

I was somewhat ambivalent about booking this hostel as the Lonely Planet guide described it as 'refurbished', and I wondered how long ago that refurbishment was. But as of November 2014 the rooms look sparkling new and are very clean, tastefully decorated and comfortable. It is easily the nicest hostel I have ever stayed in. I booked to stay in... More

My mother and I stayed in a private twin room. I really enjoyed my stay here. The host is very helpful with anything you need. And her cat is adorable too! The location is great, being so close to a supermarket. Paihia is small enough that it really is easy to walk anywhere. The kitchen is extremely well stocked! And... More

You feel like you are staying in luxury here. It's a hostel that was converted from an old motel. They gutted it by the looks of it and out in new EVERYTHING. It's all brand new and modern. I stayed three nights in a dorm. It's off season so I got a huge room to myself. The bed was very... More

I booked Seabeds last August, not knowing that the winter in New Zealand, particularly the North Island and Paihia, would be sparsely populated. I did not hire a car and was relying solely on the busses to get me to and from my destination. I booked Seabeds because it looked so fabulous online and Marie, the owner, was kind enough... More

I stayed at many hostels in New Zealand but this one was besides Verandahs in Auckland the best one I stayed in. The female dorm feels more like a hotel or a shared flat, everything is nice and clean. Ensuite bathrooms are very comfy. What I enjoyed the most is that you can listen to the ocean waves why you're... More

This hostel was no ordinary hostel. It was the cleanest, comfiest most hospitable hostel I have EVER stayed in. I stayed for 5 nights in November and it was the perfect end to my many months abroad. I completely unwound here as it felt like I was at home. The husband and wife who run it can't do more to... More

It is the best hostel I've ever stayed. The hostel was very very clean and the owner was kind. Space in their fridge was allocated according to rooms and was clearly marked. I've stayed in a shared 3-bed room. It seemed more like a motel room, rather than a hostel. Beds were hotel-style, not the bunks. The room had an... More
