Only problem is finding the place with or without a GPS. We arrived at night in the rain; signage is very small. Great host and view of the river valley. Parking little tight. Nice to be out of the crowded town area.

We stayed at Baystay for 3 nights. Nick and Rob, the Dutchman are great hosts. They really make you feel at home. They are vers helpfull in making your stay a wonderful experience. Bookings at local attraction can be made by them at discounts. Breakfast is quite an experience: it's abundant and tasty with many choices, many items are made... More

i cannot believe the rating for this place, it was awful. As soon as my friend and I entered the place all we could smell was cat, and the place was just scruffy. All I can say is the photos must have been taken years ago. Needless to say we left to find somewhere else. Would defo not recommend.

Dear Meg Martin, We are very disappointed reading your review, especially as you didn't even stay with us and experienced our hospitality! Seems like you are alone in your opinion, as you can read from the rest of our reviews. In saying that, one terrible review will make guests read our 160+ excellent or very good reviews even more closely!... More

Has to be the best place we have EVER stayed. The host Rob was so helpful and assisted us in whatever we needed. The home itself is stunning and breathtaking, as well as relaxing. Meeting other couples was also a highlight and Baystay provided us with the opportunity of creating new found friendships. It's everything it's cranked up to be.... More

We stayed here for 4 nights in the Ti Tree room and were not disappointed. Although the actual bedroom was a little tight for our luggage the bed was very comfortable, the aircon was really efficient and the bathroom spacious. What made the stay so memorable was the hospitality and the environment in the house. This really is a home... More

We stayed here after driving up from Auckland and found our hosts very welcoming and with wonderful ideas on what to do in town. Free wifi was very helpful and the rooms were immaculately clean. There was also an amazing view from the back balcony which we sat and ate breakfast prepared by our hosts in front of.

We had three nights here in October and it was lovely! The room was big and clean, as was our ensuite. Cooked breakfast every morning was delicious, with a good variety on offer. My husband even braved the elements and had a spa! Also, advice as to where to eat and sightsee was very good, as were the long conversations... More

Arrived tired after the drive from Auckland and we were met with a warm friendly welcome. Checking in was easy and the room was just what we expected -awesome. It had wonderful views down to the Waitangi river valley below and more than enough space for the two of us and our luggage. The decked balcony area was great to... More

Nick and Rob were wonderful hosts. We received a delicious breakfast each morning of muesli, yoghurt, fruit, toast and a different cooked dish. The room was quiet, clean and very comfortable. The view from the lounge/breakfast room is amazing. Both Nick and Rob were very helpful when we had questions about the sights. They made recommendations on the best day... More

My partner and I stayed here during a weekend away. It was fantastic! It is located just out of Paihia (about 5 minutes up the road). We were greeted upon arrival by our host Rob. We placed our bags down and he gave us a quick tour around his spotless home and then showed us to our room. We were... More
