My husband: not a fan of B&B's, but this was in a vineyard... How could I resist? Lovely comfortable room with a gigantic bath (felt like we had a whole wing of the house). Best breakfast in all of New Zealand (and we had some good ones - see Hamurana Lodge). Great hospitality. Small and intimate. Out of town...but a... More

Overlooking vineyards, this is a great quiet location, yet is only 10 minutes drive from Napier. The breakfasts were excellent with a big variety, and the suite we booked was first class with great views over the well tended gardens and vineyards. There is also a well tended orchard for fresh fruit depending on the season. Guests were invited to... More

I was travelling with a friend and we stayed in the Riesling Room. It was spotlessly clean and had lovely views over the garden and vineyard beyond. Eileen and Jes are perfect hosts and made us feel so welcome over a drink and canapés. The food is excellent and we were lucky enough to enjoy a 2 course meal on... More

We stayed in January 2014 for two nights in the Sauvignon Suite. Jes and Eileen have a passion and talent for hospitality. The food was excellent, the house was lovely. We were with friends, everyone was so impressed with the evening sharing platter, a very memorable and reasonably priced meal. The room rates were extremely reasonable and we would recommend... More

We have just spent 3 nights here and loved our stay! Eileen and Jes were lovely and very helpful. The breakfasts were amazing and we enjoyed being able to wander around the property and eat fruit straight off the trees. The room was great with a lovely bedroom overlooking a big garden - fun watching the wild rabbits hopping around... More

We were welcomed by Eileen and Roxy their sweet dog, meeting Jes on the 2nd day. We stayed in the Semillion room, which was spacious and in keeping with the 30's era. The room had it's own entrance, with a patio in front - unfortunately, due to the closeness of the hedge (and possibly the weather) this seemed quite dark.... More

I stayed for one night with my husband at Semillon room. It had a private entrance and downstairs. The room was lovely and nice. Very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also clean. The surrounding was amazing. Quiet garden to stroll with lots of plants. The hosts were nice and helpful.

My partner, myself and a friend rented the suit. This is a really special place, with a great breakfast and an even better wine and cheese the night before. The room had a great porch overlooking a vineyard. Gardens and roses were stunning and our hosts were great. Only trade off is that it's 15 minutes or so out of... More

Such a blissful place! Set in the most beautiful gardens and only 10mins from Napier, wish could have stayed longer. Hosts Jes and Eileen could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Beautiful rooms with wonderful views and even private balcony. And the Breakfasts! To die for. Wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in the area.

The Esk Valley Lodge is a bad and breakfast at the foothills of a large hill adjacent to an expansive vineyard. The home has three rooms for guests and we were in the Reisling Room on the second floor. The hosts were Eilene and Jess Roddy originally from England, but now residents of New Zealand. Our room looked out on... More
