We spent a Friday night in the Masonic Hotel. We stayed in one of the refurbished rooms, which was nicely appointed and very clean. The staff were friendly and helpful and a pleasure to deal with. We had dinner in the Bistro where the food was really good and the service friendly & timely. Our only problem was something the... More

We booked this hotel for an overnight stay, as we were attending an event in town it was convenient and priced very nicely. Parking was full at the front of the hotel and luckily it was a weekend so the onstreet parking one block over wasn't going to get us a ticket. Lovely impression on entering reception, its historic past... More

Thank you for taking the time to review Art Deco Masonic Hotel. Your comments about character, convenience and cleanliness are much appreciated. Our house keeping staff take great pride in presenting all levels of room to the same high standard. You are correct in noting that we have a variety of renovated and original rooms. We did not stay at this hotel but we did use the restaurant which was excellent value for money and the quantity of food had us bloated. It also gives you the chance to view the art deco roof lights. This should be listed separately as a restaurant as we didn't realise it was also a hotel at the time. More

Thank you for your positive feedback. GMK (Grande Masonic Kitchen) is a popular family friendly option for locals and tourists alike. Being cafe style gives it a great advantage in offering casual good value dining throughout the day. It is also a popular spot for our hotel guests to sit with a coffee while using the complimentary wifi. Kind Regards... More

We enjoyed this older hotel in the Deco section of Napier. It's close to everything, including only 5 minutes walk from the intercity bus stop. The staff was excellent, the room was comfy, though old-fashioned in many ways. We enjoyed the trip back in time. More

This was a good restaurant with interesting and quality food. I had a pumpkin and spinach filled filo pastry, that was delicious. The prices were decent and good beers. There are also pool tables. Overall a fun bar/restaurant. More

Only stayed here for one night but wished we could have stayed for more! Lovely old Art Deco hotel located right next to the beach and shops with on street parking, FREE wifi throughout the hotel, guest laundry, MED wine bar and bistro, GMK restaurant and The Rose Irish Bar. We stayed in an orginal style (non refurbished) double room... More

We booked the Masonic Art Deco in Napier by mistake - we got confused with the County Hotel which is a block away, and thought we had got a real bargain. We stayed 2 nights. The hotel was full both nights. We had booked thru a discount service (wotif.com) and that discounted rate may have contributed the standard of accommodation... More

Thank you for your honest and considered review. You are correct in saying that rooms are a mix of refurbished (King Deluxe) and original rooms. The original rooms all have new linens, flat screen TVs and complimentary wifi. These rooms allow us to have very competitive pricing making us "#1 value hotel in Napier" on Trip Advisor. We all enjoy... More

GMK Restaurant had very good service. Our Starter arrived in a matter of seconds. And as for the main course it only took 5 to 10 minutes for 5 of us! The food was good quality and beautifully presented. The kids meals were the right size and there was a great deal on. 'A kids meal, a desert and a... More

We spent two nights at the Masonic and loved it. The room was comfortable and a good mix of Art Deco furniture combined with a couple of modern pieces which were well chosen. The bathroom is due for a refurb which I hope will be done in the Art Deco style when it happens but it was clean and worked... More

If you want peace and quiet then this is not for you. My wife and I stopped 3 nights and enjoyed the old fashioned charm of the hotel. However it is in the city and our room didn't have double glazing so you do hear the traffic or noisy people. The Rose is an Irish bar attached to the hotel... More
