Friendly, helpful staff. I stayed in a single room which was small, but close to the bathroom and very well appointed with a chair and enough room for my suitcase. Best of all was the small shelf above the bed with a 4 outlet powerboard beside it, perfect for charging phone and camera batteries overnight! Well appointed kitchen.

Located close enough to town but not too far. Right across the road from the beach so you can take your morning coffee and watch the waves crash in. Loveley old building - loved my room! Big kitchen with everything you need to cook.

One of my favourite hostels in my 11 weeks spent traveling round NZ. Booked to stay for 2 nights - ended up staying for 8! Lisa and Marcus are fantastic hosts. Friendly, really helpful and lovely people. Lovely old building, with lots of character. The place is very clean and well looked after. Parts of it are a bit dated... More

Stayed in a 4 share, Room 23 and it was so poorly located. It was right where the bicycles were stored, next to the laundry room and beneath the bathrooms. This made things noisy when people were doing their laundry and showering. A power point was not working and the heater did not work either. Thankfully, we were able to... More

The staff at the hostel were lovely - very helpful and informative - and my room was cosy (but a bit cold). The place is very centrally located and I enjoyed my stay as it was so near the town centre and the bus station, although I was frustrated that the internet connection didn't work.

Really nice location: seafront, just 5 mins from big supermarkets (pack'n'save, countdown), not far from the city centre. lil hostel almost empty winter time. very clean. nice lounge room. heaters in the rooms. nice garden. price is ok but you can find cheaper in the city centre. don't choose that one if you hope for some art deco experience, go... We stayed here for a couple of nights while we were in Napier. Run by a lovely couple (with very friendly dogs!), we mainly spoke to the lady of the house, who was really helpful and very welcoming. The hostel itself is well run, very clean and the room we stayed in was fantastic. Double bed, spacious, with a big... More

We stayed two nights in the most amazing double room overlooking the beach. From our bed we could see the ocean, it was beautiful. The only problem was that the curtains were not lined so at night the street lights and beach front lights came straight into the room making deep sleep difficult. We ended up hanging a spare blanket... More

Excellent location on the Marine Parade. Close to everything. Just across the road from the beach. Very welcoming staff, very relaxed atmosphere. Cleaning in progress every day from 10.30. If there is something to pick on, that would be the smoking in the courtyard. I understand you cannot smoke anywhere in public buildings in NZ. The courtyard is still part... More

One of the most efficiently run hostels I have stayed in, and organised by a devoted and hard-working team with an almost family-feel. The kitchen is VERY clean and there are always people about tidying and cleaning. The outdoor area is great and good for getting people together. Place has real character and little touches like Marcus offering to get... More
