I was here with a conference group, and there would be no way I would choose to stay here. I understand they have good deals, but I'm yet to see any advertised. The place is old and dated. The rooms are huge, so might be suitable for a family instead of a motel if you get a good rate. The... more

We have been fortunate enough to have 2 more return trips to the Kingsgate Hotel in Hamilton since my last review . The Hotel had some more great deals which we could not resist but take advantage of ! Our party consisted of my husband and I and our 9 year old son. We checked in before the 2.00pm check... more

The Kingsgate was the hotel used for a conference that I attended. Check in was smooth going and easy. Parking was plentiful and free. The hotel is low rise accommodation with the main entrance to each block off the carpark. There are steps up to this door. Which meant lugging your suitcases up them (I did not see any ramps).... more

OK, so I needed a place to rest my weary head. All else was booked in this town. The room was clean, but looked dated. The security light located directly outside my windown did not help. Curtains were thin. Bathroom was clean. This whole complex looked like a cheap travelling salesman hotel. No internet. Breakfast was alright, but nothing special.... more

Booked five nights here for England's cricket tour and this was by far our worst experience during a great month in New Zealand. Huge room was more like a dormitory, and absolutely filthy. A la carte restaurant was closed and only a very limited (albeit cheap) buffet available. Manager admitted our block wasn't used much and mostly for school groups.... more

Booked a family room for three of us. Although the decoration/furniture was quite old it was clean. The gym, swimming pool (for laps), sauna and jacqusi all went down very well as they are all free to use. We also had a bar meal during our stay, again excellent value for money. Will definitly use again when we are next... more

We stayed over a weekend for a local get away and really enjoyed the facilities. The welcome was warm and friendly. They have great leisure facilities with a pool, spas, steam room and gym - did not get to the gym!! The restaurant food was great and the service very effecient. We would recommend this hotel. more

Even though we checked in very early (9:00 am) by 11:00 am, they had our rooms ready. Nice rooms, great food in the restaurant and the staff is extremely helpful. I will be using it as a base for my next trip. more

The furniture in our room was very worn, don't know how old the bedspreads were. Bed uncomfortable. Everything was clean, but the bathroom smelled faintly of urine, which the hotel staff said was coming up from the drains. They offer wireless internet, but it does not work despite repeated attempts. Front desk staff (other than the manager) are poorly trained... more

This is a very average motel, older rooms. Nothing impressive about this place. Food in Breakfast buffett was so-so. Large bar area if you have a big group. more
