This is a great place to stay, off the beaten track and in an ideal setting of trees and lawn. The room we had was wonderfull with the most beautiful bathroom complete with large spa bath. The food was really good but the service was a bit slow, it was nice to have a leisurely meal for a change and... More

We booked in for an anticipated great night and had invited our daughter and friend to join us for dinner. The anticipated set menus as advertised on their website but were told "they are not available tonight..........". The food was tasty but we had to pay the full menu priced which doubled our cost. When discussing the matter with the... More

Absolutely wonderful food - great variety and presentation and decent enough cellar, however, our stay there was the oddest experience of our 5 weeks travelling around NZ. We were the only guests and it felt like we were an intrusion- no one helped with luggage and there is no lift. the bedroom we were offered was dark and dismal ,... More

The service was fabulous....really lovely waitresses who were helpful and friendly. We went for lunch and had the fish which was very nice but the lamb curry with chick peas was out of this world. Infact I would go as far as to say, it was the best I have eaten in years. I'd love the recipe. Location is nice,... More

Hotel with great potential in a great location. Eco build using second hand electricity pylons and recycled local wood it has an out if Africa feel. Helpful staff but unbeknown to us the hotel was closing for 7 weeks as we left. The rooms are fine but the ensuites have strange showers and sunken baths . Little sound insulation and... More

The setting for lunch is beautiful and unfortunately it was too windy to be outside to enjoy it. Unfortunately the service and the food does not match the setting. The food is over priced. The gazpacho soup offered as a replacement for the minestrone on the menu (which was ordered) was not noted for being spicy on the menu and... More

We stayed at The Narrows for three nights and enjoyed a very peaceful and relaxing stay. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and the food was fantastic, well beyond my expectations with delicious fresh fish and some really innovative dishes. The room we stayed in was very large with a great outlook and most amenities we needed.... More

I stayed at The Narrows Landing on a Monday night. There seems to be a several others staying as well. A very nice room - large and comfortable on the 2nd floor. This was a corner room - with a balcony on two side and nice views. There were a few minor things that could be improved ) like better... More

All staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. The cuisine is very good as is the restaurant service. We enjoyed a large comfortable suite on three separate stays within our time in New Zealand. This boutique hotel has a quirky, relaxed style. It is set in an attractive country location yet is close to Hamilton. We first stayed here 8 years... More

Last stayed at the Narrows Landing in 2006 and immediately booked it as part of another visit to New Zealand. During a 3-week tour of NZ, stayed a total of 9 nights at The Narrows during the trip, but as three separate stays. On each stay, was offered one of their superior and roomy suites, with continental breakfast included. All... More
