We stayed one night here in February in a 1 bed Harbour suite. Overall the room was excellent with everything needed for our stay including laundry facilities. More of an apartment really with a balcony overlooking the harbour. Everything was very clean and maintained to a very high standard but it felt a bit clinical like a hotel chain as... more

The Portside is one of the best hotels we stayed in during our two week tour of the north island - biggest disappointment was that we only had one night. We had a one bedroom port side apartment with view of the pool and port. Only slight downside was the noise of equipment loading the tankers in port but the... more

Nice place with lots of room to relax in. Got there late and had to leave early , which was a shame. No restaurant on site but lots within easy walking distance. Try USSCo. Had a great meal there. Chilli prawns sitting at the bar while drinking a wonderful Emerson Dunkleweiss that was brewed in Dunedin. Then sat down to... more

This Hotel is situated on the quayside at Gisborne, and has a reasonalble car park. The rooms are adequate, but in ours more room was dedicated to the kitchen than the bedroom area, in fact we christened it our "kitchen (with bedroom attached)!" This became clear when one of us got into bed and found that you were almost in... more

We stayed in a one bedroom apartment (324) with an attached studio (325). Our initial impressions of the rooms was good. Clean, tidy and well fitted out. But .......there was a long crack at ceiling height along the length of the lounge room in 324. But....... much of the furniture was chipped or scuffed But......the dishwasher in the one-bed apartment... more

We decided to start with the best and were reccommended the Portside Apartments. Our expectations were more than exceeded and we decided to stay 4 nights instead of 2. The views were as impressive as the beautiful suites. more

Fantastic hotel, seemed brand new, amazing room facilities. A complete all-rounder. All aspects were fantastic and really enjoyed our short stay at this hotel. Price can always be cheaper! but it was very good value (only slightly more than the much lower quality motels around. more

We are so pleased we chose this hotel to stay in Gisborne. It"s location couldn"t have been better, to restaurants, bars, the harbour.& beaches. We stayed on the 3rd floor in a studio ,with views of the harbour. We had a fully equiped kitcken, with microwave, fridge, oven, hobbs and even a dishwasher..The decor of the room was excellent, the... more

I stay monthly at the Portside Gisborne. The rooms are basically apartment type. You can have a studio (bed in open plan room with kitchen - seperate bathroom) or 1 or 2 bedroom apartments. Or they have penthouses as well which are rather large and all the mod cons. The one and two bedroom apartments are all furnished the same... more
