Good location. Rooms are clean and bright and spacious with a good layout. Staff were very helpful. Well laid out kitchen and were able to prepare meals easily. Close to restaurants and 10 minute walk to shops. Enjoyed our stay. Pool was chilly. Overall a very good feel to the hotel.

Very happy with our decision to stay here for two nights on our trip around the East Cape. We had a one bedroom and interconnecting studio for the children. The decor and fittings were fantastic and really comfortable. The big corner bath was fantastic. We really enjoyed the pool and watching the activities on the boats. It's not a view... More

In the past we have stayed at a nice motel nearby but when the Portside Hotel was built we were attracted to it.This time we stayed in a studio unit which was well equipped except that there were no comfortable easy chairs although there was room for them. We looked at a one bedroom apartment the following day and were... More

Decided to overnight in Gisborne. Picked the Portside because of the close location. Very pleasant room, view of the Carpark initially, but the air conditioning packed a sad and I was moved to a room with a view of the river and pool. Comfy Bed, good sized telly and friendly service. Would definitely stay again. Probably more on the expensive... More

We had a wonderful stay at Portside in early January 2015. The room (premier suite) was well set up, roomy, and very comfortable. The suite was clean, and felt like a home away from home. The Portside staff were very friendly and helpful. They allowed us to check in early (we were escaping from a disastrous night at the Captain... More

The apartments are quite spacious air conditioning was perfect too. I can't find any fault with our stay. Staff were so friendly and greeted us each and every time we left and came back into the... My husband and I stayed at Portside for Christmas 2014 and loved it. We booked a one bedroom Premium (DeLuxe) Suite which overlooked the port. The suite was spotless with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The suite includes washing machine, dryer, iron and iron board, and even complimentary washing powder! There is a dishwasher but we didn't use... More

We recently spent a night at the Portside Hotel and found it to be very pleasant. The room was comfortable and clean and staff made us feel very welcome. We liked it that our room had both air conditioning and windows that could be opened to enjoy the sea breeze.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom executive apartment which was lovely. Full kitchen, wifi and comfortable amenities. Walk to town or beach and just across the port from trendy wine bars & restaurants. Excellent & friendly service.

A nice modern building with comfortable apartments. Ours was on the first floor facing the port. Entertaining watching a log ship load and families fishing off the wharf. Very little noise from the port. Some problems with intermittent internet but not a real problem. Plenty of places to eat within walking distance. Will stay again.
