we stayed here as a family for the weekend. the place has free wifi which is fast - and the front desk staff were all helpful. on our last day we checked out and left our suitcases at the concierge all day. they were really nice. the beds are as nice as those of my own at home.

View on level 2 of the carpark wasn't great but otherwise was a nice stay. New large bathroom, good amenities including washer/dryer, big kitchen. No proper desk area to work. Wifi worked well. Nice staff. Hotel needs to get better food options though, particularly as its a small town with limited options.

It's a two level hotel with pool, plenty carparks, walking distance to CBD and beach, very clean facilities, helpful and friendly staff. Suitable for business and short visit. However there are no restaurant/bar and spa/sauna facilities. Good value for money though.

Met by helpful and friendly reception. Was offered the perfect room (balcony and sea/port views). Same price as anywhere else. The room itself was excellent. New, clean, spacious, modern, everything you could ever need. We had a really nice stay here and will always go back.

With a round trip planned around the East Cape, this modern apartment hotel was a good choice as a base location. Our agent had booked a ‘deluxe room’, which on arrival we found was the standard room. It was a narrow, cramped box overlooking the car park, and two nights in this was not what we wanted. The receptionist was... More

The Portside Hotel is aptly named. Next to Gisborne harbour. Our two bedroom apartment had great views of the sea, harbour and town. The rooms are surprisingly quiet as the hotel is across the water from a working port. It turned out to be quite fascinating to watch. The bedrooms are equipped with comfortable bedding, a range of pillows and... More

We were very disappointed with the reception at this hotel. On arrival we checked what the rate per night was. We were tempted to book through Trivago as they quote $142 per night. We told the receptionist this and she went to check at an office then confirmed that we would pay $142 per night. It was not until we... More

A very modern apartment hotel. Excellent reception, lounge and pool area. Although we had a very good stay, would like to think that should we return the furniture may have been updated. It is rather shabby and old fashioned not in keeping with the public areas of the hotel. The property is clean and the views over the river and... More

Wonderful value for money. We stayed in a one bedroom apartment which was on the second floor. It was spacious, clean and had a great view of the harbour. The location was excellent and we were able to cook a roast meal for ourselves as well as utalise the washer and dryer in the apartment. Staff were very friendly and... More

Excellent facilities, with full laundry (washing machine and drier) in the room together with a fully equipped kitchen, lounge area with balcony (overlooking car park) and sofa and table within the lounge/kitchen and two chairs and table on the balcony. Good wifi and air conditioning. The Receptionist, who booked us in, certainly needed some Customer Relations training - even a... More
