We stayed in a 1 bedroom executive apartment which was lovely. Full kitchen, wifi and comfortable amenities. Walk to town or beach and just across the port from trendy wine bars & restaurants. Excellent & friendly service.

A nice modern building with comfortable apartments. Ours was on the first floor facing the port. Entertaining watching a log ship load and families fishing off the wharf. Very little noise from the port. Some problems with intermittent internet but not a real problem. Plenty of places to eat within walking distance. Will stay again.

Stopped in Gisborne on business without making an advanced booking and Portside was recommended by local person. I had a 1 bedroom apartment and was very pleased with ammenities. Although hotel doesn't have restaurant attached there were plenty of good options close by. For the price it was as good as any I've stayed at around the country and would... More

Lovely place and location. Definitely the place best to stay in Gisborne town area. Have stayed in one bedroom deluxe room and one bedroom premium room. Pay the little bit more and stay in premium as its just a bit nicer and beautiful view! As opposed to view of car park. Ground floor is even better as you get a... More

Stopped in to Gisbourne for a night and decided on this hotel from looking online . Others were cheaper but this one looked really good . Arrived and the staff was very pleasant and welcoming . Went up to studio room which faces the harbour and log loading across the bay . The roomis super nice with modern decor. A... More

Stayed here for only one night in October. We were disappointed on more than one front. Room is quite dated, very small and such an old fashioned TV. Flat screen TV's are so cheap these days, they could do better The reception area leads you to think this a nice modern hotel. Rooms really need a facelift. The balcony was... More

On seeing that the name of the hotel had "Heritage Boutique Collection" in it, we were expecting a smaller, more intimate hotel with some character but found it to be more like a "conference" hotel with two long, lifeless corridors leading to the rooms on the second floor and terribly dated and dinged, mahogany stained furniture (from the 90's?) in... It is many years since I have visited Gisborne and I was delighted when I checked in at the Portside Hotel. From the moment of entering the spacious, modern foyer where reception is located I had a good feel about this hotel. Car parking was easy as there were ample parking spaces at the back of the hotel. Perhaps I... More

6 couples and we were all very happy with our rooms and the facilities that they contained. Far superior to most hotels and the rates were very reasonable. Location is excellent as are the friendly, helpful staff. Great views.

My wife made me comment on the toilet paper. Apparently it is some sort of green eco friendly stuff that just doesn't do the business (pun intended). That little gripe aside this is a great spot to stay. The staff that we dealt with were friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped. The wifi is free. The... More
