The innkeep at this holiday park was a little gruff and rough around the edges, but proved to be rather friendly and helpful. The facilities were a little run-down, but clean enough (there was only limited times that hot water was available). That being said, the location was spectacular. Massive, spacious, lush grassy areas to pitch a tent or park... More

cheap camping, You have what you pay for as they said. I think the biggest (bad) surprised was the undrinkable water evrywhere, which makes cooking quite painfull when you have to boil every single amount of water (even to brush your teeth!) I think I was disappointing because it calls itself a holiday park but as definitively not the basic... More

We stayed here for a night to break up the drive between Gisborne and Opotoki....and glad we did. Yes it's grass roots Aotearoa and I think that's the great thing about this place. The scenery is breathtaking and we enjoyed the slow pace of life. I would just mention we were missing a smoke detector (we could see where it... More

Looks lovely but quite a few things to mention. Bathrooms with no soap (great way to spread disease/bugs in a camp), gaps under the wall dividing men's and ladies toilets (peek down to see into the other bathroom, ekk). Cold taps with no handles. Only one or two hooks in the showers, that really just trickled water. Loud music and... More

Stayed in one of the older units, which was of the standard I expected for this region, at the price. The campground has good shade trees, a shop and average facilities. The beach is a short walk away, but it's of interest for a walk or surfing only. There are signs advertising takeaways and a theatre, but the theatre looks... More

Disappointing is how I would describe this holiday park. The entrance driveway looks promising but then you are confronted with disused equipment and an office/shop in what resembles a machinery parking lot. If it were not for the lateness of the day and the fact we needed to hook up to a 240 volt supply, we would have high-tailed it.... More

Tucked away at the foot of the hills and right next to the beach. This place has a variety of accomodation from self contained units to powered and up powered camp sites. It has a shop with food and alcohol and basic camping and fishing gear and a picture theatre . Bill and the staff will look after you like... More

We only stayed here for one night and for us it was worth while. Behind where we camped there was a short walk to a lovely beach which was deserted. It was a bit dreary and the people were not all that friendly but it suited us for a night. I wouldn't plan on staying for more than two nights.... More

We drove all the way from tauranga (4.30 hours) to te araroa enjoying the lovely bays and scenery on the way when we got to the park we couldn't believe how rough the camp was so we scarped back to ohiwa harbour very disappointed. if people want own or run a camp they should look at their camp with the... We went to stay here for one night as this is the only park in the area, but when we saw the state of the place, we got back in the camper van and drove on to Gisborne. Rubbish and mess everywhere , and many of the sites were flooded, when you could find what was supposed to be a... More
