Just discovered this treasure last night. Arrived on spec tired and stressed after dark and settled into the beautiful Nikau room. Warm quiet. Decor very tasteful with lovely fabrics and native timbers. Huge relaxing spa bath in large well appointed en suite. Only guest and needs minimal but breakfast available and lovely breakfast room. I will be coming here often.... More

Gisborne is a bit out of the way, even by New Zealand standards and a lot of the accommodation options don’t look all that exciting. So why not try an older period guest house close to the centre of the City. Gisborne is the smallest city in New Zealand, so being close to the CBD is not a big deal.... More

I was aware when I booked that there are several opinions on tripadvisor who say the manager is impossible to deal with-however I still booked as the pictures looked lovely . Am so glad I did! First of all it is an amazing house, old, GRAND STYLE villa, refurbished and decorated with love!. Rooms are spacious with excellent facilities. I... More

We stayed one night at this beautiful boutique hotel. What a beautiful place, our room was huge and nicely furnished, shared bathroom but there was no one else staying upstairs so this was no problem. Breakfast provided took into account my husbands allergies and was generous. Only complaint was poor welcoming and no explanation of what we were able to... More

Beautiful house, welcoming host, very nice stay. We stayed only for a night but its one of those places You feel at home and wanted to stay longer. I had a chance to see all the rooms, and each one of them has a great attention to details with its own character.

First the positives: good location about 10 minutes walk from most places. Room a good size and clean. Free parking and wi-fi. Now for the downside: if the owner is James (I think that was his name ) then he has never been on any type of customer service course in his life. In fact he had certificates on display... More

Cedar House in Gisborne is one of the best places we've stayed. Great comfort and luxury, but at a standard motel price. The room we had this time had a large ensuite with spa bath and from the top floor looked out over the river. Being so close to the centre of town meant we could walk around without driving.... More

We had a great time here on a winter getaway. The rooms are all massive and luxurious. We had the Nikau room with its own ensuite and spa bath. We felt like we were living in Downton Abbey. Close to the city with nice views of the river.

We stayed here for 2 nights while away for my husbands business. I needed somewhere with free wifi to complete work from the room and this was a great location. We were in the Rimu room, which had a large comfy bed, large tv, large wardrobe and desk. A huge, modern shared bathroom across the hall, which we had to... More

This old house used to be a private school. What a wonderful job John has done in converting it into a well appointed B & B. We were fortunate enough to have one of the top floor ensuite units. A very spacious and beautifally decorated room, just the place after a long winding drive from Napier that day. The view... More
