I stayed 3 nights in the Private Cabin. Wonderfully decorated, very well equipped and spotlessly clean. The owners were extremely welcoming, the main house is immaculate and has been looked after very well. My primary purpose for visiting was surfing. The owner gave me some great information on where to go for various swell and wind conditions. The breakfast is... More

I'm so glad I chose this place as it felt like a home away from home. Barry and Ros really go out if their way to make sure your stay... More

If you are going to Gisborne this is definitely the place to stay. The house is beautiful, clean and comfortable, the service is just excellent, and Barry and Ros (the owners) are amazing. We stayed there on new year's eve, and, apart from the great and huge breakfast, we got to have a barbecue and drinks with them, it was... More

What a fantastic place to stay. Barry and Ros were so welcoming and when I arrived Barry brought me on a tour of Gisborne and made some recommendations.....get him to show you where the wine centre is! I stayed in the Raglan room and it was so spacious and beautifully decorated and you will definitely sleep well in the comfy... More

After travelling from Rotorua and arriving at the Surf City Lodge at 11.30pm, we were met by Barry who dispite the late hour still had a smile on his face. My partner and I found the lodge to be a warm, comfortable, beautifully and lovingly restored home with lots of original features. Barry, our host made our stay in Gisbourne... More

We arrived at Surf City to a warm welcome from Barry after a long day of driving in overcast conditions. Barry and Ros invited us to join them for dinner at their local Fishing Club, and we spent the evening in their delightful company. Next morning we enjoyed a delicious continental breajfast. When we are next in town I'll certainly... More

Had a great stay with Barry and Ros. We were treated just like one of the family. Had a wonderful stay and Barry even invited us down to his Fishing Club for Dinner. The man is a marvel in the kitchen, so be prepared to add a couple of pounds, but good ones... Will definitely be back to stay again... More

Barry is an excellent Host, goes the extra mile in serving excellent meals. We had pan fried fresh fish in a cream caper sauce for breakfast one morning, and scrambled eggs with spinach the other morning we stayed. Top Notch. Room was clean and tidy. Peter Clark.
