After a brief stay here in 2005 we were prompted to go back this past Christmas holiday to spend more time!
Out of the three self contained accomodations on the property, we stayed in the Turehu cottage. Turehu has the most amazing views of Bethells Beach below. Don't forget to take advantage of the barbecue!
Trude and John, the hosts, are two of the most amazing people we've ever met and are truly the heart of the whole place. Since they live on the property we were greeted upon arrival by John. He gave us a tour and showed us the walking path to get to the beach. They are also very helpful in organising any activities and attentive to needs such as more towels and linen changes.
We spent most of our time on the beach or at Lake Wainamu. A picnic and a swim at lake Wainamu is a must. The giant sand dunes that shroud the lake are quite a site. We did take a 4 hour drive to Northland to see the largest Kauri tree, though Kauri's can be found at the nearby... more
