A most beautifully appointed B & B. Wonderfully kind, gracious hosts delivering hospitality the most discering traveller could not fault. All set amidst a neighborhood of beautiful character villas from a bygone era. Beautiful views across the Harbour and just a short stroll from the Devonport Village with a nice selection of Restaurants and Cafes and Art Galleries. Just a... more

We received a warm welcome into a very comfortable private suite with a lovely view/outlook across the water to Auckland and scrumptuous breakfasts. Our hosts could not have been more charming. The surrounding suburb was very nice with interesting shops and walks along the seafront. Overall an excellent 4-day stay! more

The Coatains Landing is a very special place. We spent a week here, and loved every moment of the luxurious surroundings and attention to detail in the spacious suite. Marg, our hostess, was a sheer delight, and we enjoyed our sumptuous breakfasts overlooking the busy harbour scene. The ferry is a few minutes walk, and 10 minutes into central Auckland.... more

I absolutely recommend this place. First: excellent location, if you want to be close to Auckland CBD, but do not like all the traffic noise that comes with it. Devonport is a charming waterside suburb with lovely café’s and shops, only a10 minute (lovely) ferry-ride to Auckland city center. The B&B is close to the main shopping street of Devonport,... more

After 18 hours of travel, we arrived in Devonport at The Captain's Landing. We were met by Bo and Margaret Ekman who quickly got us settled in our suite, hooked us up to their wireless internet, answered our many questions, and told us about Devonport's restaurants, shops and ferry landing--all just a short walk along the bay from the B&B.... more

Margaret and Bo welcomed us like long, lost friends and showed us every consideration in terms of accommodations - a quiet space with an incredible view, easy walking distance to the village and restaurants, a bottle of bubbly, chocolates, bathrobes and wonderfully nourishing breakfasts. This was the start of a six-week trip, and I can't imagine it getting much better... more

After a long flight a stay at The Captain's Landing couldn't have been better. Margaret and Bo were like old friends even though I had never met them. I was greeted with some much needed coffee after an early arrival (with a complimentary pickup from the ferry terminal in Devonport which was much appreciated). The accommodation is outstanding and everything... more

We stopped off at Devonport for four days at the end of a wonderful holiday in New Zealand, having toured South and North Islands. We arrived hungry and rather weary and found comfort, luxury (including complimentary Port and chocholates) and truly amazing breakfasts. Our hosts, Margaret and Bo could not do enough for us, making us feel like long lost... more

Devonport was our last stopover en route to Sydney after a grand tour of the South and North Islands. Devonport is not only a scenic spot but is relatively close to Auckland Airport. We are so pleased to have had the privilege to meet Margaret and Bo Ekman and to stay in their exquisite accommodation for a few days. The... more

Margaret and Bo were the most gracious of hosts. The Captain's Landing is a top notch B & B. A "Waterfront Retreat". A wonderful, relaxed environment with very comfortable and elegant surroundings. I wish we could have stayed longer! Margaret had every detail taken care of from fresh flowers, chocolate and champagne for our anniversary. The specialty soaps and lotions... more
