Very inviting people. Great food (we did ask for no onions, but hay!). Couldnt have asked for better service. Remote island and a perfect getaway !! Thank you for the experience guys. We hope to see you again as I think this will now be a go to place to get out of Auckland (only 40 mins, you would have... More

We spent 3 nights including New Year's eve with Dave and Helen and some of their family and friends, and we had a wonderful time. We enjoyed walking and exploring around Kawau Island and also tried out the fishing. The hospitality of our hosts was great, nothing was too much trouble for them, and Helen's food was delicious. Hopefully we... More

Absolutely stunning! We had the most relaxing weekend in the company of Dave and Helen, two very accomodating hosts! Kawau Lodge is certainly somewhere that can be enjoyed by all! We loved it (and are under 30) and recommended it to our parents as a great place to celebrate there upcoming 50th! Highly recommend taking the sun loungers to the... More

We did very enjoy our stay there. Helen and Dave are doing a great job. We had such a nice dinner and for someone like me who doesn't take time for breakfast, it was wonderful to have one from our hosts. We also enjoy our stay because we met 2 other interesting couples there. More

A brilliant couple of days at the end of a whistle stop tour of NZ and provided just what was needed to end a memorable holiday . Tranquility, lovely site on the island, perfect if like us you like the bush, birdsong and good comapny. Great food, beautiful views from excellent rooms and some good walks. Kayaking around the inlet... More

What a very special place Kawau Lodge is. We stayed for three nights, and we left relaxed and refreshed. Helen and Dave are the host and hostess with the mostest. Helens cooking is fabulous and Dave is at hand with a wine or beer. They both have excellent local knowledge of the island. We had fun exploring the walks, visiting... More

Lovely location with plenty of places to walk & explore but we were not prepared for the noise of the hosts grandkids also staying. If you are planning a tranquil 2 day stay as we were, I would suggest checking ahead that kids won't be staying. Other than this we had a great time. Helen & Dave are very welcoming,... More

Hi DeBorah, thank you for the nice review and we understand your comment, we normally do not have children in the house when we have other guests staying but with all the drama that had happened down in Christchurch we decided to bring them up for a few days and unfortunately it was very hard to keep two little boys... From the moment we stepped aboard Dave's boat we felt relaxed and at home. Unfortunately we had only one night with Dave and Helen but Helen produced a wonderful dinner and an equally superb breakfast. Both were great hosts and we left feeling we could have stayed and enjoyed their hospitality for a lot longer. A very comfortable room with... More

We wanted to have a unique experience and visit with friends on this great little island in New Zealand. It was our great luck that Helen and Dave have a wonderful little B&B situated just across the bay from our friends and we could borrow the dinghy and zip over whenever we wanted. Our room was delightful with a view... More

Thanks Dave and Helen, you looked after us so well. Helen's cooking is amazing, she should be on the television! Lots of great island history from Dave on the boat tour of the island - not to be missed. More
