I stayd 3 nights in a private double room with ensuite,no window.Room was adequate and quiet enough and I wasn't bothered about no window. It was very very hot though and the little fan did offer some relief .The room was cleanish but the sheets had stains and didn't seem clean.Staff were friendly and Nishi gave me a good deal and... In Auckland CBD, has an extremely convenient location (close to the InterCity bus terminal, across the street from the Sky Tower, near the Art Museum and Airbus pickup stops). There’s the grocery and lots of restaurant/bars right around the corner. As an Hostel, it's clean: female toilets and showers were very clean (especially on the first floor). The kitchen is... More

I stayed in a few hostels in Auckland and this was by far the cheapest. With a great central location opposite the Sky Tower and around the corner from a few supermarkets it is very convenient. There are plenty of bars around as it is just off Queen Street. The beds aren't the comfiest so be prepared, showers are warm... More

I stayed at the Surf 'n' Snow Backpackers in Auckland for two nights over the weekend just been and I was highly disappointed. I slept in a double room with an ensuite which I had paid $90 a night for. There were only 3 positives I could think of. * The location was central to the local attractions I was... More

I stayed in a lot of different places. Some of them not exactly impressive. I have pretty low standards all in all when it comes to places and yet Surf 'N' Snow managed to not even meet my expectations.. The rooms was sparse, pipes going through the rooms with no ac or fan. The male bathroom had no soap dispenser... More

My partner and I got back from our holiday and needed to stay in Auckland for one night. As soon as we entered the room, we couldn't believe what we see. Literally 4 walls, one twin awfully smelling bed, pipes above our heads and one broken fan. There was 40 degrees in the room during night, we couldn't sleep at... More

No water during the stay, 68 NZD for an awfull room, without windows and the bed full of hairs... no manager available and no reaction to our letter to the management. For only 10 Dollars more you can get easily a nice hotelroom!

There is not a lot to say about this place other than its dirty and the actully rent couches out for people to sleep on.They do not have and compassion or dignity.Health and safety of this buildng should have closed it down a long time ago.The birds what fly into the kitchen are a nice touch if you like to... When we checked in the beds were not made and the smell from the room would knock you out.. We asked for a refund but they said no.. We then asked them to make the bed with clean sheets. We asked her what's the smell and she blamed Indian people from the night before. We paid for two days and... More
