Of all the nice places we stayed on our road trip, this was our favourite. We had lots of fun with John, who gave us really useful tips on where to go, eat etc etc. We look forward to seeing his lovely home on screen.

Just stayed at the Braemar on Parliment Street B&B in Auckland, New Zealand and it was wonderful. Stately home that has been preserved in its original state. Great location for exploring central Auckland. John is a wonderful host and very knowledgeable about Auckland and New Zealand. Highly recommend it for a stay.

Great escape from the city bustle it right in the heart of the City. The host is personable and friendly and you get an opportunity to stay in a beautifully and lovingly restored home away from home. when arriving in the evening, there is no obvious lighting or signposting until you approach the door. Attention to original detail and furnishings... More

The two things that make the Braemar special are John, the innkeeper, and the location. John is an incredibly warm man who has a wealth of knowledge about Auckland as well as New Zealand as a whole. He is incredibly helpful. For example he walked us to the street we needed to get to; he provided spring water for our... More

It had been a long time since you stayed with us before Patrick. It was a pleasure helping you experience things that you missed last time, like Waiheke - The Island of Wine. Also it was great to show you some of the new things that we have now. We enjoyed your company too. Thanks for the review and hope... More

John is a national treasure living in a national treasure. The story of how he saved this amazing home would make a great movie about his passion. We thoroughly enjoyed his conversation as well as his excellent wine choices. Our only regret is that he doesn't live in our neighborhood.

Its a very unique experience, john is an absolute fantastic guy, I was there for 3 nights , all different as i was in Bay of Islands and Rotorua and used Auckland as a stopover, but we were treated in the best way possible, thanks John and team.

Braemar on Parliament Street is a listed residential house with historical interest. It is a singularly unique place to stay as nothing else quite like it exists in Auckland. Our host, John Sweetman, greeted us with warmth and cordiality and turned out to be an interesting and interested person. He even parked our rental car around the back for us.... More

Braemar on Parliament is a jewel within Auckland city. It is walking distance to pretty much any landmark within the CBD. Upon opening the door, the decor is so exquisite and there is a very nice ambiance. The building is historic and has a fascinating history. The rooms are spacious, decorated beautifully and being set on Parliament Street, a glimpse... More

Thanks for your kind words. It was a pleasure to have you both here and your precious little baby. Tissy and I loved holding him while you had your breakfast. Bon voyage. More

Braemar is situated in the heart of Auckland - walking distance from all the things we wanted to see and do in Auckland. We stayed there 3 nights at the end of October 2014 and LOVED our stay. The attention to detail in the room furnishings is lovely - very authentic-to-the-time-period furniture and decorations - really stunning! John is a... More
