We liked it here - friendly feel, good value, big well equipped kitchen and basic but comfortable room. It was very quiet at night time and the bed and pillows were comfy. The location is great - Mt Eden is a quiet, leafy residential area, but still has shops / cafes / bars and only 40 min walk from the... More

Without a doubt, the best hostel I stayed in while spending three months in New Zealand. The place is kept spotlessly clean and the staff are always at hand to help/ answer any questions. The chilled out atmosphere should be used as an example in how a backpackers should be run. Thanks for the memories Oaklands!

We are happy you enjoyed our hostel is in a lovely quiet tree lined street so close to all Auckland has to offer . I know Jonny and Martin try really hard to keep it as clean and tidy as possible. More

2 nights stay in a double room. Nice staff. Good backpacker, clean and well situated (bus stop, supermarkets, Mt Eden walk). Full-equipped kitchen but dining room too small for many people. Great room with furniture and hangers for our stuffs. WiFi by Zenbu (unstable connection) and vouchers not really cheap (however 200MB free at arrival).l

We are happy you enjoyed your stay. Oaklands Lodge is a very convenient place to spend a few days when you arrive. Close to banks, a post office and the supermarket as well as being just. A ten minute bus ride to the City. More

My girlfriend and I stayed here in July 2014 and really enjoyed our stay here. We stayed in a 4 bed mixed dorm with a Scottish guy and a German girl who were both very friendly, the room was nice, had lockers, comfy beds, and was quiet. The bathrooms at the facility are pretty immaculate and the kitchen is great... More

this is our preferred place to stay in Auckland, quiet street, very close to wonderful eateries and bars. We stay in a double room and it only costs us NZ$68. The room is basic, but very clean and the staff are super helpful. The shared facilities are very clean. It is a bus ride to town, and a walk to... More

The host Jonny or Thomas was super charged and friendly! We had minimal contact with his but he was so helpful. We booked a double room and got Room 9. It was just a good size. Two luggage open, with still ample space to sit walk around. And the hostel is planned such a way that you dont have to... More

This hostel got it all. I didn't think myself picky but it was very hard to find a good hostel in Auckland till I arrived here. A clean, big kitchen with everything in it you'll need and individual storage cupboards. Clean, nice and warm rooms. The single roome is a bargain. A cozy living room with a big bookshelf and... If asked to pick one reasons to go back again, that'd be Mt Eden Village that sits right out of the street. Shops, cafes, restaurant, groceries, cars, buses and locals. It's far better than the busy pace of Auckland CBD with ppl walking fast and high buildings. For solo traveller to use public transport (like myself), be sure to plan... More

Thank you for your comments we value all of them. On peak times of the day the kitchen and bathrooms are busy, but this is the same in all hostels when people are trying to cook food and coming back from their day's adventures. Rules are also in place to make sure everyone enjoys their stay and no one ruins... More
