We stayed at the Econo Lodge City Central last week for 7 nights. We had a room with a balcony - isn't it great to have room where you can get fresh air - a lounge and plenty of space with breakfast included in the tarrif. The wi-fi was fine, in fact excellent is the word that should be used.... More

Second time staying at the Econo Lodge. Again, found it to be clean, comfortable and in a great location. Walking distance to everything, directly across the road from Sky City, and an easy walk/cab to neighbouring Ponsonby, Freemans Bay and Kingsland.

I had read reviews before booking this place, so I was expecting the small room and basic facilities which was no problem because we were only staying one night and only wanted a bed close to town. However, the room was really cold and smelt "funky" which wasn't a great surprise. Regardless the bed was comfortable and we slept well,... More

Once again I spent 17 days at this hotel during the Auckland Film festival and was very happy with the experience. Room, service, staff, and breakfast were up to the standard I expected and even though spending such a long time at one hotel I was most happy with the competence of the hotel. I would strongly recommend this hotel for a... More

The hotel price is very cheap even cheaper than budget hotel IBIS. The location is good, just next to Skycity and Queen's road. Walking to the pier is just 10 mins. The room is tiny, similar to business hotel in Japan. It is difficult to open our big luggage in the room. We stay at Winter time. The room is... More

I have stayed here several times at the start of a New Zealand trip. Easy to get to the hotel and the airport taxis know it. You can spend a LOT more and not get as worthwhile a place just to get over the travel shock. Central enough, you stretch your legs nicely to get to the ferry building and... More

The room was tiny, but clean. Bed was a bit average. Shower was terrible, the shower head was so low on the wall that I had to bend to get underneath it, and I'm not tall. The continental breakfast was much better than expected. The hotel is central and everything in the CBD is pretty much walking distance. If you... More

Unfortunately this hotel started off on a sour note for me. The Choice website has a best online rate guarantee, however they refused to honour the cheaper price offered by Agoda ($50 less for three nights). This may have been because the Agoda price was sans breakfast and the Choice was not. However there was no offer to give me... More

Location and convenience are two big factors for staying here; it's right next to Sky City and as low as $79 for a room. The lobby is decent and reception is friendly. The room feels like a hostel; the queen bed takes up nearly the entire room. Clean enough though. If you just need a place to crash its perfect.
