The hotel is in a great location situated just off Queens Street. However the rooms are very very small with not much space to open your bag. There is a WiFi service however you just get 100mb!! I mean what century are we living in. If you switch on your computer make sure all updates are turned off as you... More

Very small rooms, no very clean, bed is well past its use by date, no aircond but the worst part was the traffic noise. The hotel is on a very busy coner with traffic lights. Every change of lights had buses or trucks accelerating up a hill and making lots of noise. The single glazed windows offered little protection from... More

First up they did give me a partial refund because I complained about so many that are wrong with the place. Room was dirty, bathroom was even worse with mould and rust over the taps and shower head. Beds, linen & towels are way beyond their use by date. Wifi is incredibly slow and poor signal. Building is in need... More

Stayed a night, to go to the Mariah Carey concert. Thought the room was very reasonably priced. It is in a really great location, with easy access to transport and shops. Double glazed windows would be helpful, and possibly a spruce up. But the wonderful, helpful, friendly staff more than made up for it. Would stay there most definitely for... More

Very small, not very clean room, smelly bedding, dirty windows. It made me regret not booking single room in some of nearby hostels - for less than half of the price. This is very little value for the money.

Stayed here a night for my partner's 21st birthday celebrations. This is definitely an old hotel with tired furniture - the small fan heater is straight out of the 80s. The room is small, and a double bed is exactly that. Most hotel's "double beds" are queen beds these days. All things considered (sub-$100 per night), it is good value... More

My friend and I stayed for the night for the Justin Timberlake concert in a room on the top floor. It was comfortable, clean and tidy, centrally located and cheap. Would stay here again. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Great place to stay when you are by yourself and on a business trip, just having a place to sleep. At less than 80, the room is better than some Backpackers or other hotels such as Styles, Mercure or Kiwi Intl. The room is just very basic with a double bed, a small bathroom with a tiny shower area which... More

We stayed at the Econo Lodge City Central last week for 7 nights. We had a room with a balcony - isn't it great to have room where you can get fresh air - a lounge and plenty of space with breakfast included in the tarrif. The wi-fi was fine, in fact excellent is the word that should be used.... More

Second time staying at the Econo Lodge. Again, found it to be clean, comfortable and in a great location. Walking distance to everything, directly across the road from Sky City, and an easy walk/cab to neighbouring Ponsonby, Freemans Bay and Kingsland.
