Nice hotel nearby Auckland city center. Near to the promenade, city center, dockyard/pier and Auckland tower. It is a typical suite/apartment set up with kitchen & living room plus balcony facing the seaside

It should be noted that this is hardly a hotel - more like and apartment/motel, as there is no dining or room service facility. Breakfast is the exception. A couple of local places will deliver, but the room doesn't offer menus or details. Staff encountered were pleasant and helpful, but seemed to be on lone duty. Room heater wasn't working,... More

Stayed for 1 night last weekend. Really good service. Clean and tidy and more spacious than expected. Very close to the city centre and reasonably priced. Good kitchen facilities. Definitely worth a visit.

After an average first stay some weeks ago with my young daughter, I left a 3 star review stating some of my minor issues. What a fantastic surprise it was to receive feedback from the manager both explaining the reasons behind each matter and offering his apologies that I was not completely happy. Given that my daughter and I had... More

When we arrived with large luggage, there was a huge lack of help. Was checked into our room by cheerful reception staff. On arrival to our room we were dissatisfied room 103 marks on the carpet, bathroom was mouldy with cracked tiles and bath, and the bed was jammed between two walls, looked like a backpackers. I went down to... More

Booked a room via Grabone for $129.00 for the night - this included late check out and free wifi. This is still a pricey room in my opinion as I could have booked something very similar that wasn't at a discounted rate. Upon entering the room, was a decent size but that is where the positives stopped. the bathroom was... More

Booked a room at this hotel in April for a 3 night stay in August, foregoing my usual Sky City booking for something different and closer to the waterfront, and regretted the decision within 90 seconds of entering my room. Once inside, I was immediately disappointed. The room/hotel was 2.5 stars at best, not the claimed 4 on Booking.com. The... More

We wanted to break our journey from Melbourne to LA and decided to spend two nights in Auckland. The Grand Chancellor hotel is located 5 minutes walk from the ferry terminal, Auckland Skytower, main Queens Street shopping area and bus terminal. The Airbus from the airport took us to stop 5 in Queen Street and we walked the five minutes... More

The Grand Chancellor chain has many fine hotels. This is not one of them! There is no restaurant, no bar, and room service only for an outrageously priced continental breakfast. The room was tiny, the T V was about the size of a of a TV monitor and the one armchair was placed in an alcove facing a wall. In... More

This hotel definitely needs to be brought into modern day. The rooms are well below the "Grand" standard that their hotel name implies, there is no free Wifi like other hotels/motels offer, there is no room service. Being on the corner of some busy roads made for a very restless sleep from the noise. The beds were the worst I... More
