Booked the Duxton through a lastminute style site for a good rate so was very pleased when my girlfriend and I were offered a free large glass of wine in the bar upon arrival. Rooms vere spacious and had a small kitchenette in which we didnt use but would have been useful had we stayed longer. Not the closest hotel... more

the hotel was great only fault we found the pool was a bit small and we did stay twice in three weeks which ment we had two different rooms one on the 1st floor and 1 on the second floor the one on the second floor was a lot better because we didnt get as many midgies due to being... more

I stayed at the Duxton for one night with my husband in May 09. The hotel is located on the fringe of the CBD a bit out of the way of the main nightlife/good restaurants. On checking in the service was satisfactory but very unpersonable without any indication of a warm welcome. I was simply thrust the key without being... more

On May 28 I am doing a quick overnigh trip to Auckland and am booking back into the Duxton for the third time. To be honest the first time I stayed I had a problem and raised this as an issue with the front desk. I got an immediate response from the manager who not only apologised but made sure... more

Ann and I travel each month around the world. The Duxton was clean ans spacious, with a kitchenette to boot. Short walk to downtown restaurants, and a $12 cab ride to the dockyard 'restaurant grove" area. Staff are on top of the business, and represents Aukland well. more

We stayed for a weekend at the Duxton and enjoyed a relaxed and comfortable stay. Ideal location being a short 10 minute walk to either Aotea Square and Queen Street or Karanaghape Road, Ponsonby Road is also about 10 minutes away. It is a gentle up hill walk from Queen Street, and unless you totally unfit is not an issue.... more

The Duxton's biggest problem was lack of attention to detail in the room and poor customer service, no one seemed to care. The room: Soap wrappers were on the bathroom floor when we arrived, the TV remote sensor, on the TV itself, was a Heath Robinson contraption and the TV failed to work the next morning. The room was controlled... more

We found the staff during check in very unfriendly and unwelcoming (except for Junior - who was lovely) the assistant manager checked us in, he did smile, he didn't look up the entire time until he directed us to the lifts - no "enjoy your stay" no pleasantries basically. People want to be welcomed to be made to feel special... more

I booked three rooms 1x Deluxe King and 2x Deluxe Twin. All were in very good condition and looked great as if they had been recently renovated. Lovely decor and beatiful views from our balconies. The location was just perfect as it was in a quiet street but still in the city vicinity (about 5 mins walk to main Queen... more

When we walked into our room it was really nice and we thought we were in for a real treat, until slowly but surely one thing after the other went wrong. We put our drinks into the fridge to chill, and sat at the table and chairs to enjoy a glass of complimentry bubbles. Only while we were doing so did... more
