I have been travelling with YHA all these while. It is really clean and tidy as expected. The place is huge and have ample cooking space for everyone. Furthermore, the location is quite central to Queen Street. Service is warm and prompt. Would definitely stay here again.

Dear Fellow Travellors - this backpackers is clean, secure, well located and with all facilities. When last in Auckland we stayed at the City YHA which was equally well maintained. The International YHA had the benefit of parking which is best reserved well in advance.

Perfectly suitable for $30 a night – we shared a four bedroom dorm with two other girls each night and it was warm and quiet each night, except for the poor person who had to sleep by the door and to woken up by the hall light shining in every time someone got up and went out. The bathrooms were... More

Although from the outside this hostel looks similar to other YHAs, unfortunately it is not quite there for the price you pay. The four bed dorm we slept in was noisy as two of the beds were on stilts but not like bunk beds. If you even moved slightly, you were worried you would wake others in the room up.... More

I've stayed at this hostel many times as it's in a good spot and it's not a party hostel. The staff are always friendly and the rooms are generally always clean. Things are starting to fray around the edges and could do with some money spent fixing the place up a little but nothing major. The hostel does seem to... More

Sadly the worst YHA hostel I have ever stayed in. It is in dire need of refurbishing, everything is warn out and battered, the decor is very 90s. Not a great welcome to New Zealand after a days travelling. The bedding were not clean; heavily stained and smelling of sweat. The mattress was covered in hair. Anyone getting a private... More

Good location, but the room I had resembled a prison cell with little natural light, no tv or radio & 2 uncomfortable and very small single beds - extremely basic compared to other Hostels I've stayed at. There was what sounded like a loud air conditioner going which made it even harder to get to sleep. The showers really were... More

IYH off of Queen street was an ideal location for walking anywhere in central Auckland. Your were down near the wharf in 15-20 minutes. Countdown supermarket was just off Queen street. The Airport Bus stops just around the corner from the hostel. Kitchen was a great size with plenty of cubby spaces to put your food. Some times the front... More
