Stayed at this hostel one night before starting my trip with Haka Tours last month. All the basic facilities were fine, the bathrooms quite clean, the communal area especially kitchen seemed spacious. It was a beautifully hot day which unfortunately meant my room ( a twin) was very hot!! Quality of everything in the room very basic. Other members of... More

We only stayed here for one night but will be returning at the end of our trip around New Zealand. We had a twin room which was of sufficient size, clean and the beds were comfortable. If I were to be finicky the socket was located on the other side of the room away from the bed but we weren't... More

I haven't even checked out yet but I'm så annoyed that I have to get it up here. Would it kill you to put up a fan in each room? It's two o'clock and I can't sleep 'cause we're four people in a small room, hot weather outside and even though all the windows are open the only thing we're... More

Nice place, friendly vibe Pros: close to a lot Book in early or arrive early and possibly get a very good place to park in the city free of charge Kitchen is big for lots of people cooking at once Free wifi - steady speed Good price for budget travel Staff are nice enough Plenty of shopping to buy or... Our private twin room with ensuite was small and mattresses were old but still comfortable... a little bit smelly from the restaurant next door. They have a large fully equipped kitchen and friendly staff. Now, what's the point of having magnetic cards to unlocked doors to upper levels if, at reception, you let people in that have no cards (so... More

Save yourself money, time and stress, stay somewhere else! Worst place to stay, excessive noise at night and early in the morning!!! Now one can forgive & forget the sour Asian girl on reception - one would think she's been eating onions or drinking sour milk! And even if she has poor listening skills...you can bypass this with life in... More

I wish I could write a fair review but my experience at both Auckland City YHA and Auckland International YHA was so terrible I can't justify it. First: The 4 bed dorm rooms are terrible (clearly small hotel room conversions), rundown, dirty carpeting, thin windows/walls (forget trying to sleep), not enough power sockets. I won't mention the inconsiderate dorm occupants... More

We stayed here for 2 nights in a 4 bed dorm. The room was just big enough and the beds were comfortable. The communal areas were good an the kitchen was well equipped with plenty of storage space. The location is really good. Not too far to walk I to the city but far enough so you don't get any... More

Stayed here twice, the first time at the start of my travels and the second towards the end. The first time I was told by the reception staff that the easy-as card had stopped. I then found out a few weeks later at another hostel it hadn't; therefore my accommodation was more expensive. The second time I ended up sleeping... More

Conveniently located, this is a good choice for the budget and location conscious. However, I found the cleanliness average and the sound insulation lacking as the noises from other rooms invaded my sleep multiple times throughout the night. Lacking a good sleep and required to start my journey early in the morning, I was rather restless the next day. Hopefully... More
