I would have liked to stay here, but when I turned up I was told that the HI booking system had overbooked the hostel. I had been moved to the City YHA (which doesn't seem to be well reviewed on Tripadvisor), which is a bit dodgy. There was no email or phone call to advise me of this change. If... more

Out of the three, this was the best, sad it was only one night and I didn't have my luggage with the closthes. The room was quiet and I could tell was pretty laid back. Front desk was ok. Security was good. Wish I could've stayed longer, next time I'm in Auckland I'd stay there despite location. more

As you would expect the facilities at the Auckland International YHA are very good. A large, clean & well equipped kitchen, internet (expensive, go to the internet café around the corner on Queens Street), TV room, laundry, book exchange & travel centre. It is centrally located at the top of Queens Street a 15 min walk from the harbour. Supermarkets... more

This YHA is clean, kitchen and dinning area are big. Room is okay but the window is not big enough, not much fresh air at night (window was closed). My room is quiet which is not face to the main road. more

As it is a bit further out of town (and up a hill), the hostel is a bit quieter, although our en-suite room had a tiny window at the top of the room, which may have meant we were at the back end of the hostel, hence no noise. Our small room's lock busted and locked us in, so we... more

This YHA is not nearly as good as the YHAs you find in Australia. The room and bathrooms were fine but the windows were very thin and as all of the city's boy racers seemed to congregate right outside the hostel, so we were having trouble getting to sleep as it was. Then, there was a fire alarm in the... more

Although paid slightly more than the usual hostel, I would strongly reccommend this hostel & if I were on a long break I would have been happy to have stayed there for longer. The hostel is very clean, very spacious and there is lots of space in both the rooms and the longe areas. Staff are very friendly. Overall a... more

This hostel was quite expensive, for the single room that I paid for - ie not dorm. The room wasnt very clean - the carpet was a bit dirty and the basin too. Otherwise ok. more

This was a great hostel and we didn't have any problems with staff or with anyone stealing food in the kitchens. The linens they supply seem clean and the only negative would be the noise from the other patrons...but you'll have that in a hostel. more

This has got to be one of the best hostels that we have ever stayed in. Not only is it very clean, it has comfortable rooms, at a reasonable price, aprox 14 GBP a night. Very modern facilities, laundry and dryer, a large extensive kitchen with every utensil you could possibly need if you were a professional chef. Lots of... more
