big hostel i guess like 7 floors of rooms, dorms, kitchen really big, all is clean but is a little "cold" i didn't feel comfortable in it, is not bad if you want to save some money, is kind of cheap, close to the city center and bars, ohhhh if you are on weekends night and you want to sleep,... ROOM: 411 is a double room that is a bit far from the shared bath / showers. No window, as I recall. There's no climate control in the room, so hope the master control gets it right. There's was shampoo, soap, a towel, and a fridge, which is convenient. The bed was fine. SERVICE: It was fairly busy and took... More

Pros: great central location, easy access to everywhere and transport links close by. 24hr reception. On site job help(although you need to pay for it). Cons: stains everywhere and dirty especially the kitchen, no atmosphere, beds old and not comfy. Have to pay for wifi. I am really not a negative person but just did not enjoy my stay esp... More

The location is definitely the best point of this hostel, its right in the middle of queen street in short walking to distance to a lot of things. The airport bus also stops right outside making a transfer from the airport easy. Staff were friendly and helpful. My room was a good size. The bed however was extremely uncomfortable with... More

Really enjoyed my experience here. Tina was such a great help and kind person. Would recommend to stay here for anyone! The fact that it is so centrally located, especially for those on a working holiday visa(really close to iep center) is fantastic!

Firstly I will say that my review will be based on the experience I had there, and that experience was a young drunk lad who proceeded to vomit over my stuff so not a brilliant night. But the actual hostel is huge with no real sense of community, the kitchen is a mess with some random guy who plays dance... More

This was the first place I ever stayed in New Zealand and was the first stop on a tour of the country. First thing to note is that it is in an excellent location right in the middle of the city. It's also really straight forward to get to from the airport, with the shuttle bus stopping just outside of... More

Base is by far the best hostel in town, its in a central location with all amenities close by. For working holiday visa people you cant beat it, its right across the street from IEP. They give some really decent combo and travel deals on a regular basis (bungee, skywalk, city tour, etc.) There's quite a lot of amenities inside... More

I've lived there for 3 months and it was an excellent experience. You have everything you need: from a clean shared kitchen to a night club. The staff is very helpful and attentive and you meet people from different places. You can really feel that you're a part of a big family!!

We wanted to do a early check-in, but as our room wasn't available yet (Around 08:00am) they decided to upgrade our booking and they gave us another room with private shower & toilet #win. Really helpful staff, nice big kitchen and really good location.

Hi, Thanks for your review. I’m really happy to hear that our staff accommodated you with a bit of an upgrade, we know how hard it can be waiting those extra hours to check in sometimes, especially if you’re super tired or fresh off a long haul flight! Hope you enjoyed all the extra facilities the ensuite rooms have to... More
