We had a wonderful time at the Aachen house. Our experience - our flight arrived early, hence we did too, we actually showed up at the Aachen house at 7:30 a.m., well ahead of the check-in time. We were treated extremely well. The staff greeted us, got us tea and snacks, provided us with a map of the area and... more

Aachen House was our first port of call when we landed in New Zealand. It was a beautiful property with a very traditional feel to it. The accommodation was of a very high standard and the service from the staff was first class. I have read previous reviews where some have mentioned the ‘colonial’ feel that it had – I... more

This is not a place for younger executive couples. It is probably ideal if you are still reminiscent of the Colonial era and an Anglophile over 60. The management is quite blatantly judgemental and as a trendier European couple we clearly didnt measure up to their expectations. We certainly felt the eye of disapproval and felt a little like we... more

We went to Aachen House on our honeymoon, and when we arrived we were very excited to be there. The room and breakfast were very nice, as others have described them. However, the owner was extremely rude and she and her staff actually went out of their way to make us feel unwelcome. We stayed there for three nights and... more

An absolutely fantastic place to stay!! A stunning property with delightful staff, amazing decor and the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Joan and her team provide some of the best service I've experienced and provided excellent recommendations of things to do and see in Auckland (the nearby shops in Remuera are excellent). A++ more

After staying at Aachen House for two nights in May at the beginning of our NZ tour, we feel the previous review was very harsh and one-dimensional. Our stay in the Victoria Suite was the perfect start to our 3 week trip. Joan is the perfect host, and her staff are fantastic. Very professional and helpful, going out of their... more

We were woken up at 7.30 in the morning by the door bell, which rang numerous times as the people arriving for their "breakfast confernece" were let into the house. Seeing as they were using the breakfast room for their conference the people actually paying to stay in the house were given the 1st floor hallway to eat their breakfast.... more

The Aachen House is amazing. The whole staff (Joan, Mona, Ayu, Wallace, and Eddy) are very helpful and are always there for you. I was amazed at the friendliness and service. Everyone makes sure you feel welcome and you begin to feel like they really do care about you. They are willing to make recommendations and "go the extra mile,"... more

We totally agree with all the previous reviews. Acchen House is like home from home, the staff are top rate and the breakfast exceptional. The accomodation is situated about 10 -15 minutes out of central Auckland but is served with a regular bus service about five minutes walk away. more

Having just spent a month away from home travelling through NZ, Aachen house was the perfect way to start our holiday after the long and tiring 24 hour flight from London to Auckland. I liked the fact that it was slighty out of town (10 min drive - no where's far in NZ!). The place is really looked after and... more
