A great location for our recent stay. David and Averill were very considerate hosts, serving champagne and a cheese board on arrival and then leaving us to it while we watched tv in the lounge room. We appreciated being able to make hot chocolates in the evening before heading up to bed. We had a comfortable sleep in an enormous... More

We stayed in several B&Bs in New Zealand and we were really excited when we booked The Consulate, especially since we love to play tennis. From the beginning we ran into issues. Money was asked for upfront months in advance of our travel dates. They do not take credit cards, so the only way that we could get money there... More

We find the above criticisms from this American woman very concerning and unfounded, as shown by all of our previous feedback. There was no complaint from this woman before she arrived, while she was here, or as she left, so this review was a shock. All of our previous reviews have averaged 9.8 out of 10. This couples stay must... More

The Consulate is well located near the cafés of St Heliers. The city is only a short bus trip away. The Consulate makes a very comfortable Auckland base. It is quiet, luxurious and Averill and David are helpful and considerate hosts. We would certainly stay there again.

We stayed at The Consulate for 2 nights on the 26 & 27 April. We loved this beautiful property. Our hosts David and Averill were most hospitable and provided lovely breakfasts. The house is absolutely gorgeous and we had the best sleep in the most comfortable king bed in the blue room of our NZ holiday. We highly recommend staying... More

This is a fabulous house with a wonderful couple, Averrill and David to look after you. Their home is your home whilst you are there and nothing is too much trouble, I wish it was my house.!!! Hopefully one day we will go back for another delightful stay with them. Request the Blue room, very large and comfortable. Lovely to... More

What a great choice to kick off our NZ trip. Thanks Averill and David for making us so welcome in the very delightful Consulate. The welcoming champers and cheeseboard were a great start and we wished we could have stayed longer than just the one night to fully enjoy the experience. Your suggestion of dinner in the local village was... More

Beautiful, exceptionally clean, quiet and very comfortable in every aspect. David and Averill Archer are two of the best people anyone could meet. They really make the final touches to a perfect stay. Great breakfast, excellent ambience music, ......... Did I mention the word "perfect" ?.... All positive points... Not a single negative point..... Wished we could have stayed longer.... More

Pure luxury at a very good price and something we could only dream of in the UK. The price for the same would be double or triple! The welcome from David & Averill, just delightful and like visiting very good friends. The home, I can't even begin to call The Consulate a B&B. It is so much more. Pure luxury.... More

We arrived after a few weeks on the road in a camper van, which we did drive to the front door ! Ooops - we dropped our luggage off and with David's help and several manovers we took the campervan back to the depot. We arrived to be greeted with a very acceptable chessboard and a glass of bubbly, we... More
