Location is pretty convenient but otherwise there are several reasons why it's less expensive than other accommodations in the area. The room has terrible lighting. Beds are old and uncomfortable. The room was blazing hot during the winter. The AC controls in the room do not work. When we told the front desk about it, they informed us that the... More

At $109/night in the city I should have twigged, oh well. Room was big but poorly lit, tired and maybe not sparkling clean (mind you have seen worse in Perth). Staff were OK but seemed to going through the motions, nothing special. I didn't eat breakfast so cant comment on that. My room faced the carpark behind, where at some... More

One to avoid in a city with many hotel options. The windows were caked in dirt and by far the dirtiest I have ever seen in any hotel. this marred the river view somewhat! Rooms basic. The reception staff were very unprofessional and amateurish. When asked where to find restaurants for dinner, the receptionist directed me to a street with... More

Not the best hotel we have ever stayed in, not by a long shot, but not the worst either. The New Esplanade (now thats an oxymoron) is way over due for a refurb. Its dated and needs a tidy up, and a new handy man as whoever has been doing the maintenance is a real hack. Girls on the desk... More

This hotel is definitely budget, but I felt like I still paid too much for it. One staff member was clueless when I asked questions about the city. The other was extremely rude and arrogant for no reason. The room was full of old furnishings, mould on the shower curtain, holes in the wall. No heating or cooling - it... More

Room was very basic and outdated but it is right near the CBD, and cost $89 for the night. Add the cost of a taxi each way from the airport, and it is still much cheaper than the hotels near the airport that have a free shuttle. Will stay again.

I found the person on the front counter not at all helpful when I checked in. My room was on the 2nd floor, very hot, so little cold water coming out of the tap that made it impossible to even have a shower and the room did not look as if it had had any care for at least 50... More

Unfortunately when in perth the company stays here regularly . However not anymore. They have lost a regular client due to rude staff. Nothing better than starting the day with a girl who obviously should not work in hospitality who treats customers like an ex boyfriend who cheated on her.

I love once stylish hotels that have been well maintained but are a bit run down. They are excellent value and nostalgic. Unfortunately The New Esplanade is laughably misnamed. It was last new in about 1970 and is very poorly maintained. Every surface of the hotel is damaged, dirty, soiled or dusty. In room 305 there is exposed wiring behind... More

We stayed here recently. Location was great to walk into city and to train station (and just round corner from Exchange Plaza if you are waiting on passport!!) we got room 307 which looked into car park and stairs. Thought it was overpriced for tired looking rooms with poor view. Bed was comfy, bathroom old and dated. Staff friendly. Internet... More
