Firstly I was upgraded...totally unexpected! The Restaurant was 5 star quality & to die for. The room...The QUALITY was superb. Chandelier lighting. Draped Velvet Curtaining with privacy sheers. Gold embossed mirror with tasteful framed pictures on the walls. Most importantly the huge bed was really comfy. The bathroom must be extra clean & NO mould. And It was spotless. And... More

Charming old hotel. Had a very comfortable room stepping out to the balcony. Very nice area walking distance to the PCEC. Wifi worked well, everything was clean and in good order and I'd definitely stay here again.

Lovely old place from the outside, and really handy for the places I had to go to, and for the free Red Cat bus service. Inside was a bit disappointing. My room was pretty good but with no windows at all except for a transom looking into a conference room. The corridor to the room had no windows either so... More

We stayed here for 6 nights when we 1st arrived in Perth from the UK. It's a really attractive old colonial style hotel, old fashioned but quirky but perhaps getting a little tired. The room was perfectly adequate with all the necessary bits and pieces except for any window. The lack of natural light made the room feel claustrophobic and... More

Stayed overnight for a work visit. Comfortable room and bed. Modern room interior. Checkin and out was easy. Breakfast was on par with the hotel standard. The place is about to close for key renovations, would like to stay when its complete.

Before I start, please note that I am not a hard-to-please, grumpy reviewer. I tend to focus on the positives. Unfortunately there were not many of those when we stayed at this particular hotel. My husband and I stayed at the Melbourne recently after arriving in Perth from the UK. Tired and bleary-eyed after many hours of travel, we had... More

Myself and five friends go to high tea three or four times a year and have been doing this for about ten years. It goes without saying that we enjoy each other's company and love to have a catch up, but we also love trying different food. Everything we were served at the Melbourne Hotel was amazing, really tasty and... More

Booked accommodation to stay in what is a beautiful old building as opposed to the modern CBD hotels that are all the same. However this old lady is in desperate need of a complete renovation, the carpets are threadbare and stained. The furniture looks like it has come from a charity shop, the decor is straight from the 1980's including... More

I gave importance to accommodation fee when selecting a hotel in Perth CBD. I felt this hotel reasonable in spite of the 4 stars. Every day various events such as conference and reception are held in the heritage conference room. Many ladies enjoyed traditional English tea time when I arrived at the hotel in the afternoon of Sunday. The superior... More

We had a Christmas function in town on Saturday night - the same night as the Christmas Pageant. We decided it would be easier to catch the train in, to save parking, and stay the night somewhere cheap to avoid taxi cues and costs. The Melbourne Hotel came to the rescue! We didn't need anything fancy, just close walking distance... More
