I stayed for one week and the hostel was quite full. Mainly with young people working in the area. Rooms, bathrooms and toilets were all clean. Plenty of hot water and a huge kitchen which just about works for the number of people all trying to cook at once. This is a lively hostel and well situated close to the... More

I moved into the Shiralee just over a week ago and will more than likely stay there for the next few months. Since changing owners in December and having a full renovation this hostel is the cleanest and nicest I've stayed in (this is my 3rd hostel since being in Perth). All the bathrooms are brand new, the rooms are... More

Stayed for 4 nights after the place had just been renovated. Owner Tim is a nice guy and helpful with things to do around Perth. Fresh, clean bathrooms/kitchen and a good mix of friendly travellers from around the place. recomend

The shiralee is a very nice hostel to stay in. Now a family run hostel it has a great vibe with a great open plan living area with a flatsceen TV and foxtel. The kitchen is very modern and clean, the same for the bathrooms. Happily stayed here for 2 months. Would recommend to anyone staying in Perth.

I have been staying in the Shiralee for nearly 2 months and really enjoyed it. It's very different to the photos on here of what it used to be. Run by a really lovely family willing to go all out for you. Nice clean communal kitchen with all the utensils, lounge area with a big TV and bean bag chairs,... More

I agree with everything helena k has written here earlier. We were there(three girls)for two nights and after the first one wanted to leave. Its dirty and it smelled terrible everywhere, urine, sweat, cigarettes, old booze... You basically dont wanna touch anything. We met cockroaches in our room and in public areas. There were only few backpackers, most of the... More

Short: Dirty, don't stay there as a single woman, can't make friends there, kitchen is a mess, no parking space, no lockers, expensive Internet. Long: After reading about how this is a "cozy, family run hostel" we decided to book in for two nights because it was the cheapest hostel available and walking distance to pubs. But on arrival we... I had booked my friend in for 3 days & after taking ages to locate due to one way system, was horrified at all guys lying around in communal lounge whilst kitchen was piled with dirty stuff. Staff were fairly helpful but is generally an untidy, unclean & not for those with standards. My friend was told that it was... More

Good value for money. Almost clean, staff really friendly. Good for a few nights. Position isn't the best, but close to Maccas and Coles. Beds are comfortable and there are lockers. Breakfast included
