Great campsite and plenty of room. Managers most helpful. Plenty of wildlife. In fact we met two young dingoes on the road out which were very friendly and stayed around showing off for some time. One of the best places for natural wildlife.

We stayed at Charnley River Station about a month ago. It was one of the highlights of our trip from Broome to Darwin. It was peaceful and uncrowded, the showers were clean and hot and Lorrie and Chicko were incredibly helpful. Unfortunately Chicko had an accident on our last day so we didn't get chance to say goodbye and thank... More

We were thoroughly enjoying a couple of days here in early July 2014 when we learned of a death in our immediate family in Victoria. Lorrie and Chicko the current caretakers of Charnley, offered to assist us in any way they could to help us get home again as quickly as possible. Lorrie organised phone connection to Flight Centre in... More

The camp ground at Charnley River Station is grassed (green), has shade trees, is flat and has excellent amenities. It provides access to some iconic Kimberley gorges. The road up to Grevillia Gorge requires a 4WD vehicle. The gorge is spectacular - a rocky walk and a ladder give you access to the beautiful upper waterfall pool which is cool.... More

Agree with previous reviewer, AnAussie. Having been in the Kimberley before, we knew what to expect as far as accommodation goes. We too stayed in the guest house, and it was basic, but very clean and comfortable. After all, you are not in the Kimberley to spend all your time in your room - you are out and about exploring... Hard to out a value on this stay. We stayed in the "guest house" which, in effect, was a big tin shed with a concrete floor, with mesh windows and a wire door that doesn't really close. I froze that night but the others managed OK. Hot shower, plenty of hot water, but all pretty basic. Meals were in the... More

The campground was nice and grassy and the meal in the house adequate with pleasant company. The star of our stay was the pools - just lovely. This property is beautiful and worth a visit on the Gibb.

Good points: - Available campsites when Mornington Station was not - Flying foxes and bird life in gardens of campground - Hot showers - Access to Grivelia Pool and Dilli Gorge - Fresh cherry tomato's available for purchase Bad points - Grumpy manager threatened to kick us out for driving too fast before we'd even completed registering! - Campsite assigned... 2 couples spent 2 nights in the Rondavel & the old School house & wished we had booked for longer. The managers Mike &Karen were very helpful ably assisted by Bruce & Bronwyn. Our meals were terrific coupled with good company & a lot of laughter. Don't expect 5 star accommodation, but it is very adequate, clean & more like... More

Personal welcome from the station manger on the veranda, green grassed campsites, excellent things to see and do, and good old fashioned hospitality! Party of 3 Ultimate Camper trailers stayed in the campground (2 nights), and enjoyed dinner on the veranda of the station - cooked by the station manager! BYO wine - another winning strategy! Excellent things to see... More
