My expectations were set way too high. The only good thing about this hotel was the location. The walls were paper thin, so we could hear everything our neighbours were doing. At one point, we thought that the people above us nearly fell through through the roof, but really, they just dropped something on the floor. We werent welcomed to... More

Convenient location, about five minutes walk to the famous Queen Victoria Market and only one minute walk to Melbourne's free city circle tram bus station. Staff was very helpful and friendly. This hotel also provides a free laundry service. Parking is one block away, and I paid $15 dollars per day. I got the online discounted price, and it was... More

We left it to the last minute to book accommodation for Fri 2 Dec and Sat 3 Dec so everything was gone with only this hotel left for a very very high price. We had 2 twin rooms, Fri night was $209 and Sat night $269. Room 314 had 2 windows and a larger area with lots of light. That... More

I stayed at the Hotel Sophia during my first ever trip to Melbourne recently. Although it is a small boutique hotel, still worth the money I paid for my 10 nights stay. The location is extremely perfect as you are really close to many of tourist spots and public transport location. Overall, the room is nice and clean. Staffs are... More

We have stayed at the Hotel Sophia several times. It is a small boutique hotel, close to public transport and the many attreactions of Melbourne. We choose the hotel because of its location, reasonalbe rates, cleanliness, adequate room sizes, comfortable beds, friendly staff and a great breakfast with which to start the day. We are happy to recommend it. Ron... More

Hotel Sophia isn't flash but it is excellent value for money in Melbourne. We stayed there for two nights and will stay again - the room was reasonably big, and nice and clean, and the service was good. We took a room with shared bathroom, which was fine; I think I'd generally prefer an ensuite when I can, but they... More

Very handy to S.Cross railway Station/Airport Bus, and No.35 (free tram),which circles CBD and passes near most attractions. Room very comfortable and well serviced - iron/board, jug, plunger coffee, tea, biscuits etc. My room at back of hotel so no great view, but hey I want comfort and quiet to rest and sleep so suited fine. Staff friendly, helpful, and... More

This hotel looked OK on the web and it said it was a 4 star hotel. I don't think so, try 2 star. The carpet is dirty and so were the towels. Very sterile & plain. Can someone please explain why the internet is not free when you spend hundreds of dollars on a hotel room, no they need to... More

We stayed overnight at the Sophia Hotel as we attended a wedding in Melbourne. I was a bit cautious after reading some of the reviews, however, we walked back to the hotel at 11pm and the area was safe enough. We had a double room with a king bed which was very comfortable. The room looked freshly decorated and the... More
