Just returned this evening from a 12 day stay in Melbourne staying at the Alto. IT WAS FANTASTIC!!! The location is second to none. 1 block walk to Southern Cross Station and a Tram stop out the front door. Easy walking distance to all the cities highlights. I have never been in a city with so many choices of places... More

My partner and I stayed here for 4 nights in a studio room. The room was bigger than an average hotel room and had a decent sized bathroom, as well as basic kitchen facilities. Everything was very clean. The staff were all very friendly and obliging. Because the hotel is small, you get to see the same staff each day,... More

Stayed for 3 nights at the end of a 3 week trip round OZ with my girlfriend. Wasn't sure what to expect as got a great deal/cheap price- this turned out to be the best hotel we stayed in for our entire trip! Clean, friendly staff and right next to airport shuttle. Used the gym down the road for free... More

There are many thousands of accommodation providers in capital cities throughout Australia and globally. There are however, very few that manage to make every aspect of your stay an outstanding experience, whether staying in 6 star opulance or 2 star budget accommodation. From the moment I walked into the 'Alto on Bourke', I was greeted by a genuinely warm welcome... More

It was my 60th birthday so we decided to take the family to Melbourne to celebrate. I searched high and low for suitable accommodation and finally came across the Alto’s 3 bedroom self contained apartment – what a find. The location was superb – close to the bus station that brought us from the airport and close to the city... More

As always, we choose any hotel that recommended by the tripadvisor members anyplace we go, hence Alto was the one we were after for our extended family trip with young children to OZ. The 3 bed room was very convinience for us. We re very impressed by the Alto's committment to environment sustainability, and the helpful staffs. We came very... More

We stayed at the Alto for one night, the front of house staff could not have been more helpful, storing luggage as we were very early and supplying maps. This was however spoiled by the waitress in the breakfast room the following morning. She was obviously in a hurry to leave, (we arrived ten minutes before the kitchen closed) she... More

As the reviews are anonymous I cannot look up the details the reviewers stay with us to ascertain the day and therefore staff concerned. I suspect that the waiter referred to is no longer working for us. In any case the manner that the reviewer was attended too was not at the standard we expect of our team. While we... More

We got a great last minute deal through wotif.com and were very pleasently suprised when we got there. Stayed for three nights at the end of June in a two bedroom apartment. Very happy overall - good room - one large master bedroom and a smaller room with two single. We chose to stay at the Alto as a treat to ourselves after two weeks on the road staying in 'family affordable' accommodation options. I was very impressed by the Alto's committment to environment sustainability and it was a deciding factor in securing my business. The final deciding factor was that cooked breakfast was included in the price. The staff... More

Our showers are often mentioned for satisfation and they are also water saving using a maximum of 8 litres per minute. Beds are also often praised and sometimes followed up with questions on model and where they can be bought. Parking - We have missed being informative as per our website and as we should advise all car parking bookings... More
