Wonderfully quaint hotel, staff helpful & caring. Massage chairs fantastic after a hard days shopping. Will be definitely coming back.

This is the best hotel I have ever stayed in. It's a small, boutique-y type hotel and all the better for it! Incredible location. Very very attentive and helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble. Excellent chef too! The room had a little kitchen (which I believe is standard throughout) and was super clean and comfortable. There are laundry facilities... More

Currently our charge for internet is $1.50 per 15 minutes. Capped at $10 per day. Ie if you use 2 hours or more in a day the most you will pay is $10.00. Most hotels in Australia charge approx. $20-30 per day. More

We stayed in Feb 2010 with a one year old in a 1 bedroom apartment. The staff are exceptional and very service orientated but in a natural and helpful manner. We enjoyed going down to the small lounge area with our daughter and having a drink before heading back upstairs to have dinner delivered to our room. The lounge has... More

What a great place to stay! After reading the reviews I felt positive and hoped the Alto lived up to expectations; it exceeded them! The service is friendly and incredibly helpful; check-in was a breeze with included car parking easy and close by. We stayed in a two bedroom loft which I can highly recommend. Two balconies, air con in... More

If you are looking for the best value accommodaiton in Melbourne, but not looking for all the 5 star luxuries, then Alto is the place. While the rooms are small, they are exceptionally clean and quite contemporary in their decor. What Alto's rooms lack in space, they make up in their envioronmental friendliness. They tick every green box. Best of... More

Room was small but clean and comfortable with a frig, utensils and dishes for a cereal breakfast in the morning. This hotel was listed as a "green hotel" so you don't get plastic bottles of shampoo everything is in dispensers on the wall. Location was near the main train terminal and easy walking to CBD and the tram system is... More

Visited for a short two night stay as we were going to a concert nearby. From booking to check out everything was effortless. You must dine in Tristan is a very talented chef! and true value for money. Lauren was warm and great host as was Andrew, good work guys. Would stay here again when visiting melbourne.

Pleasant hotel in reasonable location. My wife and I stayed at number of hotels while on an extended visit to Australia and this was one of the best - I was pleased wifi was only $10 a day (compared to $27 in many other similar hotels) and that the television was an LCD flat screen with decent channels rather than... We had a wonderful stay at Alto last weekend. Like people have said, they're 'green' and do a lot to reduce their carbon foot print. But what about the rest? Here we go: LOCATION -Great location! The tram stops right outside, and the airport bus stops across the road on Spencer St (1 minute walk). It's a short walk up... More

I stayed at the Alto for 4 nights in November 2009 and found it fairly comfortable, but not cheap for a single traveller. This was part of a 3 month tour of NZ, Oz and Indonesia, during which I stayed in a broad range of accommodation. Alto wasn't the best, but nor was it the worst. Alto's location is quite... More
