This hostel is more like a hotel for backpackers, it's beautiful. Room We stayed in an 8-bed dorm and we're so so lucky with who came in, they were all absolutely lovely, which was the case for everyone we met at Nomads Melbourne. It was very clean, dry, and although the bed was really creaky it was comfortable. There's no... More

Chose this location based primarily on the free WiFi and it's location. When I arrived at the location, the free WiFi which was advertised was not available, hot water wasn't working, projector broken and the room was at times... unbearably hot. The bedding and linen were clean and not too uncomfortable, though the heat made sleeping difficult.

I stayed in Nomads for 5 nights, I was happy I could get a room on the day which was very helpful. I changed hostels after those 5 nights and since seeing what a good hostel can be like i'm pretty disappointed in Nomads... Little things like advertising free Wifi - it isn't, it's $4 for 24 hours if you... More

Slept in three different bedrooms (by choice) : 4 people share where there was only me and my friend, 8 people share which was a bit crowded but alright, and the 14 people share which was ... well I slept but not good! There's no aircon but only an old disgusting fan, floors are quite dirty and security system required... More

Stayed for a couple of nights in a 6 bed ensuite dorm. Yes, it was expensive, and even more so since it was the Australian Open. Paid round about 40 bucks per night. BUT it was kinda worth the money because the whole building (i.e. common areas, kitchens, facilities, dorms) are safe, clean and spacious. Room came with comfy matress,... More

Was a nice hostel for three nights. It's quite close to the city and still in the free tram zone of melbourne. Victoria markets are very close. The common are and bar are cool. The only really negative aspect was that there were just one toilet and shower in the 14 bed dorm

You get what you pay for so maybe I expected too much. Dark, Dingy but it is a place to sleep. If I am on a tight budget then yes I would stay here. They have a bar and lets just say because we were cashed up it was a great night. We moved on to another place it was... More

To give credit for the price it was fair. A budget hostel is a budget hostel. Cleaners are very expensive in Australia and thus used little. I don't want to put you off this hostel if it is all you can afford. It is fun with the bar. In my instance I was embarrassed when I booked my mates here.... More

It was suggested that I stay at Nomads by a friend. I got a king room with an en-suite bath and a plasma TV -- because well, hostels usually are not my style. I had SO MUCH FUN!!!! The staff are great and it was a lot of fun to be in an environment where I could easily meet other... More

Awesome hostel all round! Brilliant welcome at the front desk, all of the staff were super friendly and helpful. I stayed with a friend in a great 4 bed dorm. It was very clean, well looked after and amazing views over the city from the 5th floor. I then stayed on my own and made a lot of use of... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
