We stayed at the Harbour View Hotel in September for 3 nights and were fairly surprised by the staffs generosity. Despite its name there are NO HARBOUR VIEWS. Upon arrival we were given an upgrade to the two bedroom apartment with balcony which was great! more room than I was expecting. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The kitchen... More

Stayed for 2 nights with a group of girlfriends in a 3br apartment. The place sufficed as we were out most of the time. However, the apartment was shabby and dated. It felt over used, and not properly cleaned. Wall's were thin and the place was noisy and smelly. Normally you get what you pay for, but I found this... More

Filthy carpet and lounge, room stank of cigarettes and urine, when I asked desk for a change of room was rudely told I was in one of the best rooms, if this was the case I cant imagine what the lesser rooms were like.

Basic hotel with unhelpful staff. rooms did not get cleaned during my stay. Entire build ding needs to be refurbished, especially the lifts. It was close to Etihad stadium and public transport. If you're looking for convenience and not worried about quality, this will be for you.

Urine smell in bathroom, noisy, dirty, outdated, room smelt damp, never again. Reception are unable to help you with this. I thought I had stayed in bad places before I stayed here. Now a new low has been set

Stayed for two nights. Convenient location to Spencer Street and Etihad Stadium. Noisy from trams. Could have been cleaner. Reception staff were first rate and very helpful. This was a Travelzoo special. Just shows you get what you pay for.

Asked for a balcony, got one, bonus... looking out on a grey wall with rubbish on adjoining roof! The room was serviced, but bed not made, well one day it was, as in the covers were pulled up! We didn't pay a fortune, we've stayed in Melb at better for less and at worse places and paid more, so it's... More

I found on arrival that the hotel had a strong smell. I had been a work function and arrived back to the room late in the evening. That is when i noticed the disgusting state of the bathroom. The shower was filthy and the shower head itself was broken. There was mould and soap scum in the shower and the... More

I chose this place based on cost and location. I was upgraded to a superior room on check in, which was nice, although not of significance to me. The only difference from a standard room is it has an extra single bed, and a balcony. The room was spacious and reasonably clean (although there is most definitely room for improvement... More

I gave "2" for the benefit of the considerate and kind receptionist. Apart from that, I do not understand the job description of a cleaner in an apartment hotel? Just collect the garbage? Change the rubbish bin and place a new set of towels? Is that it? When you get to stay 4-5 days in the hotel? It doesn't work... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
