We've been traveling for over three months, across 10 countries, and this B&B/boutique hotel is, without doubt, one of our favorite accomodations. We liked it so much that we changed our plans after the second night and stayed here for seven nights total. The location is fantastic - on the edge of the downtown grid and very close to the... more

While planning our trip Down Under our plans underwent some last minute changes due to last minute airline cancellations we had to find a place to stay in Melbourne. We decided to look for a B & B instead of a hotel. I knew we wanted something in the city not the suburbs and we wanted something cozy but not... more

This is a gem of a B&B. Paul, the owner, cooks a full hot breakfast to order each morning in the breakfast room which is the original bakery (ovens and all) and joins you at the table for interesting conversations. We were upgraded to a King room which was extremely spacious but the Queens are very nice and cozy as... more

As travelers from America, we ended our three week vacation trip of New Zealand and Australia in Melbourne and we lucky enough to stay at Robinsons in the city. It's location, a short couple of blocks from the central bus/train station was ideal. The accomodations and early morning breakfast made our stay seem much like being home. Our host, Paul... more

We found this on the internet, and were happy to find that it was a gem. Located close to the free City tram, the restaurants at the Dockyards, and the CBD, we found we could get around with a minimum of fuss. Full breakfast in a great environment, with a comfortable guest lounge. Always helpful, with a detailed knowledge of... more

We found RITC to be a wonderful place to stay on our arrival in Australia. Melbourne was our first stop and Paul offered us a huge amount of thoughtful advice and information. The neighborhood, while definitely off the beaten path, always felt safe and was quite close to bus and tram stops. Paul was always interested in hearing what we... more

We chose this place as an antidote to the large hotels we were staying in on our tour. And we are so glad we did. The rooms are comfortable and Paul has thought of everything. Because of the layout of this unique building you only ever have one neighbour on your floor, which makes it very quiet and private. Breakfast... more

I spent a few days on my own after a business trip. I booked one of the Queen rooms that Robinsons recommends for single travelers (I was by myself.) The room itself was fine -- not cramped but not spacious, either, and quiet. The decor was modern-with-traditional touches that showed some personality -- no cutesy chintzes. The bathroom was private... more

Thank you for taking the time to review Robinsons. There is one point I would like to clarify about Wi-Fi internet access for you and all potential guests. The "wireless" internet access is FREE throughout Robinsons, including the guestrooms. All you need is the access code from me. The in-room compendium advises guests to "contact the Resident Manager for the...

We stayed here for four nights after spotting a write up in The Guardian's Saturday travel section. We chose it as we wanted to stay somewhere with character and very personal service rather than an anonymous hotel chain, and that's exactly what we got. Our stay was enjoyable, but the guesthouse misses attention to detail which lets it down. It's... more

Thank you for your in-depth review and constructive feedback - you can see the "journalist" shining through! We can only make inprovements with the help of guests who take the time to let us know both our good and bad points. So ab BIG thank you for the review. I agree with the overuse of the word boutique in alot...

Loved staying at the Robinsons. Paul was such a great host. Provided the most professional service while at the same time made you feel right at home. He is a wonderful host and a great ambassador of Australia for first time visitors. The facilty itself is very interesting, and I loved the common areas. I would say the rooms are... more
