I have stayed here three times now and each time this hostel keeps getting better. The rooms are clean and spacious, common areas are large and the hostel run some great activities and have things like free pancakes and pasta on certain days. Would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone wanting a cheap but clean and friendly place to stay... More

I stayed at the Greenhouse together with my travel companion for about a week when we first arrived in Melbourne. The hostel is situated ideally in the very center - about 3mins walk to Flinder Street Station and Fed Square. Although, if unlucky, the hostel can be quite noisy, it is a great place to meet people and start in... More

After a couple of days I spent here in September, I find it hard to overall rate this place. The facts: It has been rated as Melbourne’s best hostel a couple of times and constantly receives good reviews, so it must be somehow good. Pro: This place is really well organized, it’s perfectly located and offers a couple of amneties,... More

As others have said, the Greenhouse hosts a lot of people, so it can seem a bit unfriendly. But everything is kept really clean, and the kitchen is stocked with all sorts of useful cooking utensils, including a panini press! There's definitely enough seating for all the guests, and the tv room is pretty good. Lots of couches, and satellite... More

I stayed here months earlier when the internet wasn't working. This time the internet was working flawlessly. I spent hours on my laptop in the spacious common area, enjoying the space. As usual, facilities were great - showers, rooms, free towel and soap. But as mentioned before, the room walls are porous, wasn't so lucky second time, German travellers next... More

Stayed here for a little under a week with a friend of mine. We stayed in a double room which, at first wasn't clean when we initially got there, but was later cleaned up by a very friendly lady who was quite pleasant to deal with. Sleep quality wasn't great because it felt like the walls of the room were... More

I spent about 5 days in green house at May 2009. The staff is helpful and i enjoy their Mega Melbourne Walking Tour. I also try my best ever pasta at their Tuesday dinner night.. Toilet is clean and satisfied. Location is very good. The bad thing is the room not really clean, a bit messy with all backpackers stuff.... More

This is a great place in Melbourne! They have too good service and absolutely FREE stuff - FREE internet, FREE breakfast, FREE dinner (certain day only) etc. Moreover the hostel do have activities planned almost everyday/night at a reasonable price for residents who stayed there. I met very good people here. All you-need-to-know about the hostel rules/procedures are clearly depicted... More

The Hostel was recommended to me and the recommendation was right. Best about this hostel is the location, its right at Flinders Street Station and you can take the free shuttle bus and the free city tram from there to get pretty much anywhere touristy in Melbourne for free. Besides that it´s a typical bigger Hostel with all the usual... More
