Stayed here one night with my partner after the comedy festival. The place has a really nice feel to it. Great atmosphere and lovely staff. This is one of the best locations in melbourne. Only a stone throw from fed square! Right amongst the action. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Thanks josh, and greenhouse team for a great... More

Mine and my boyfriends first impressions of this hostel were great. Excellent location right by federation square, supermarkets and shops and the outside of it looked very clean and welcoming. We arrived to be greeted by friendly staff and the room was clean and spacious. It was a quiet hostel so great for couples and the kitchen was extremely clean... More

Really comfortable beds - I did not want to get up in the morning. Its quiet in the rooms, which is a welcome change from many hostels. There's free wifi (although its not the fastest... its free) and free breakfast, the staff are nice, kitchen is decent. I dont have anything bad to say about this hostel, would come stay... More

Stayed here for 7 nights in February, travelling alone has never been an issue before coming here people aren't social and it has a very cold university feel to it, bearing that in mind the rooms are the comfiest I have stayed in, very clean , quiet and had 7 nights of really good sleep

Very good location, friendly staff at the reception but otherwise behind the competition. The building, rooms and facilities have no charm, our stay reminded me of some school camp in 1992 - it all just makes it relatively expensive. The place needs a makeover which brings it to 2014 and more LOVE, there are more innovative options in Melbourne. At... More

This is the second time I'm staying at this hostel. Great location, quite clean and friendly staff. Door lockers needs to be maintained as you have to swipe the card many times for your door to open. I'm somewhat disappointed that they hadn't solved the issues with WiFi as such a large hostel in Melbourne CBD. It was exactly the... More

Overall the hostel was ok but having been given 4 star rating when we booked we did expect more. Wifi is free but the connection is terrible! We kept going to the Internet cafe on Swanston St and therefore having to pay! The kitchen is tiny, there was no space in the kitchen to store any of our food in... More

I've stayed in many backpackers during one year, but trust me, the Greenhouse backpacker is the best backpacker ever ! Everything looks new. The kitchen is big with at least 10 fires to cook, you have plenty of pans, saucepans, plates... The kitchen is being cleaned twice a day, but it can't help people leaving their dishes in the sink...
