I was lucky enough to be one of the first guests to stay here back in 2001 when it first opened. Facilities were top notch for a hostel, great kitchen, common room, showers and bar downstairs. I stayed here again years later and it was still a great spot.

It's a while since I stayed here and I basically lived in it so it wasn't that bad. Cleaners around everyday, great showers and staff were sound. We used to have breakfast in the pub downstairs and watch future ma b4 heading to work. Location is spot on and although it could do with a revamp, new mattresses and duvets... More

Nice hostel, great staff. Close to markets (Aldi) and free tram. Huge bathrooms with plenty of toilettes and showers. Rooms ok but windows untight so in Winter a bit too cold. No AC, very small TV room but free pancakes in the morning are a blast!

It's an old building but their closing to refurbish anyway (from what I was told). It was good for the long weekend we had in Melbourne, it was central, clean, affordable and you get free pancakes for breakfast! We stayed in a 6 bed dorm- the room was gloomy & smelly but I think that was down to the people... More

I got here and the staff were unfriendly, the room was damp and felt unclean ( like it had never been aired!). I tried to join in with some activities but found the place to be extremely unfriendly and unhelpful. I would recommend to stay here with friends for a few days at most but this is it. The free... Free breakfasts, pricing and location are the positives. Aside from that its a hard place to fall in love with the decor looking like the set of the Shining, most staff members being bored/uninterested 24/7 and the cleaners thinking they're your australia mothers. Also the WIFI is shocking. Essentially without the free breakfasts I would have given 1 star.

The hostel was in a great location, on the outskirts of the CBD, meaning most parts of the city were walkable. The free breakfast (pancakes especially) was definitely a highlight, although if you are looking to do an early day trip somewhere (like we did to the GOR), be mindful that breakfast starts 7:30 and ends 9:30. But it was... More

This was awesome! Free movies in TV room with loads of choice. The free breakfast was outstanding with pancakes, toast cereal, free tea and coffee all day and only $1 to buy a mug - bargin. The staff were friendly and I didnt have problems with the people. The atmosphere can be quite cold and lonely sometimes as people were... More

Even thou I have review this before, as always good place to stay in Melbourne. Very central, cbd. Always good place to be, easy to all tram stops, QVM Markets. Staff is always friendly, hostel always clean and tidy thru out. Pity, what i understand, this hostel is closing down.

cant complain much for the price. our room was right on the side of the main Elizabeth street, so the road noise was quite loud and the windows wouldn't properly shut. Good central location, satisfied.
