This was a very nice hotel all in all. You have a lot of obtions, like kitchen, free breakfast, pingpong, pool board, bar, travel managers, cantine computers (and probably some more). I recommend to look on the internet and book the room through another bokking service, since I found it a lot cheaper!! I think the original prices for the... More

A good clean comfortable hostel especially good if u want to meet lots of people.lots of people had their food stolen though and avoid the big dorms as no plug sockets. Really good location next to a couple of tram stops

Was pretty impressed. Was expecting the worst but it was good - very professionally run. I stayed in the female dorm. The rooms were nothing special standard dorm room. Although the rooms could do with a coat of paint but otherwise I have nothing to complain about. Toilet and showers were clean . Breakfast was standard . Bar downstairs was awesome... More

I needed a place to stay after a tour & didn't research this place, I was heading to Nomads but my bag was getting heavy & it looked ok. Walked into my room to find some dude in the female dorms & the place looking like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. I mentioned this to the staff... More

Its alright. Comfy beds. WiFi is good although you do have to pay. Had a cockroach on my chest one morning when i got up which sucked. Also, there are no forks or sharp knives to cut things. Had to buy some and keep in our room! Someone stole our headphones from the bed and the reception staff didn't really... More

My stay was expensive, the room was stinky and the kitchen very dirty. The internet (cost 15 dollars a week) was also not the best. Breakfast is less than simple. The rooms are safe and the stuff very friendly but i dont want to stay there again.

The room I stayed in looked like it hadn't been properly vacuumed in ages, the shared bathroom always had toilet seats broken off and on the ground or about to fall off. Some of the staff were nice, but I had unpleasant interactions with a few of them. Left a week early, and they wouldnt give me any sort of... More

First and foremost, the people of Melbourne are very friendly and always willing to help visitors to the city. Location is difficult to get to for first time visitors to the city. Front desk could have been more helpful with showing me around the facilities instead of assuming that I am an experienced backpacker. Room key card to the dorm... More

Having paid slightly more than we normally would for a hostel, we expected more from Discovery than we got. The building itself is clean and fresh but because the hostel is so big, it was difficult to feel at home here. The hostel has lots of facilities, such as a bar, a travel agent and a masseuse but these seem... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
