George Powlett apartments are in the perfect location for what we went to Melbourne for. We went to watch a game of AFL at the MCG and it's only a short walk to the ground. The room we stayed in was a bit dated but clean and very well priced. It's close to a tram stop so it's very easy... More

the room had not been cleaned, the bunk beds had not been made and the room smelt of mold. There was no smoke detector, all taps leaked, the double bed springs where popping out and the bathroom door did not close correctly - NOT worth the money we paid.

Cheap hotel a short walk across parklands to CBD and free trams in there, Very close to MCG. Reasonable walk to Bridge Road and then Chapel street. Free parking available (although parking would not be easy as spaces are very tight)

We stayed here as it was close to Rod Laver Arena where we attended a concert but we booked 2 nights so we could have a little break. I knew that it wouldn't be flashy and didn't expect it either. But we went home after one night. Here's why - fails to mention no elevator. Problem for my asthmatic brother... More

Stayed here during Australian Open Tennis when most city accommodation prices double. Convenience to tennis was fabulous and price was very good. Powlett street is a classy charming street with quality coffee shop across the road and a 7/11 store on corner. Tram stop is also on corner next to 7/11 and Jolimont train stn is just across the main... More

I spent four nights here for a conference. The room is dated but the bed is comfortable. The living room is spacious with a 32-inch flat screen TV and a small square table with 2 chairs. The kitchenette (microwave oven and fridge included) is a bonus. The bathroom is tiny and needs some work, it has a dusty broken hairdryer... More

Stayed as a couple during a convention for 4 nights, was out in the morning and back after dinner every night. Couldn't ask for more for our needs, simple layout in room and kept reasonably tidy/clean. Reception was very helpful with things to do and public transport, also helped to organise taxi to airport on our departure. For the price,... More

Rooms are tired and dated, but clean. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was tiny and could do with an update. No hairdryer :-) No elevator, so be prepared to walk up stairs. Friendly staff. Close to the MCG, Hisense and Rod Laver Arena. Perfectly fine for a budget overnight stay.

As our flight arrived early, so we requested to check in around 11:30am thru e-mail. The hotel replied not a problem. However, we changed our mind to go sightseeing after arrival and informed them for our late check in. The hotel put our room keys under carpet because reception's closed after 5:30pm. We arrived around 8:00pm and we accidentally left... More

I picked this place to stay based on the location and was very pleased with being able to walk everywhere I needed to be without any real effort while still being very convenient to public transport. Nicely placed near a couple of good restaurants, a small convenience store and a lovely coffee shop/bakery. The room suited me well and the... More
