I was recommended this hotel by a friend that lives in Melbourne and we were not dissapointed at all. The short walk from the bus station was perfect and the staff at the front desk were so polite and friendly it would have to be one of the best receptions that I have ever expeirenced. The room itself was ideal... More

Lovely stay in a hotel that is very central to the main shopping of Melbourne and just a short stroll away from all of those great restaurants in Lygon Street. Booked through my travel agent and was absolutely delighted to find a full breakfast was included on arrival. Rooms were clean and nice and quiet.

I chose the IBIS for its location and reasonable price. the rooms are basic but clean with comfortable beds. The main selling point is its location in the CBD and within walking distance to all the city centre sites and facilities

Only problem I found was when i booked it stated $109 per night but when i booked it ended up costing over $160... More

Dear Meegs62 Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. I was disappointed to read you were not happy with aspects of the hotel. We do not have control over our neighbours. Like most middle-range hotels, you only get what you pay for, which is not very much if you've got a deal from a third-party website to stay at this hotel. While my deal included breakfast in their first floor cafe, the cooked food is mostly luke warm and quite dry in the bain-marie, so the continental breakfast foods (fruit, cerals,... More

I found this hotel to be well located for public transport options and this why I chose it for an overnight stay. The room and breakfast was adequate and the bed very comfortable. The room was up to usual Ibis standards, clean, basic and all that I required. The staff were very courteous and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
