I took my mum over to Melbourne for her birthday. Booked 5 nights only because I had booked 3 nights at Crown towers and don't have a lot of money, and then crown lost our booking (Never ever stay at crown) and was very happy with the ibis.

This hotel is in a great location, just a 2 min walk from Southern Cross Station. Using the Skybus from the airport to Southern Cross and then just a walk up the road. Reception staff are exceptional, especially Stacy. Their knowledge and help with directions and attrations are impressive. Saved us a lot on Tram, train and taxi fares as... More

If you catch the Skybus from the airport to Southern Cross, this hotel is literally a two minute walk - very handy. Likewise very close to Ethidad Stadium if you need it. My room didn't have a view but I didn't care. Very good value for money if you get it on special. Not much street noise when I was... More

Great little hotel with very friendly and helpful staff, one young woman on reception went to great lengths to find an Italian restaurant we had dined at on a previous visit the name of which we couldn't remember. All you can eat breakfast for $20 served until 10am. Three tram stops from the Bourke Street Mall and all the fun... More

5 minute's walk to southern cross station. The service is standard and expected. The staff are helpful. It is especially value for money if you book the room when there is promotion of Accro hotel company.

This was my first trip to Melbourne. I drove from Sydney. I booked on Hotwire, without knowing which hotel I would get. I was a little disappointed to be booked in to the Ibis - the price for the 'secret' hotel on Hotwire was barely any different from the Ibis's own price. That said, it was a good price for... More

Dear doc-M Thank you for your extensive review providing valuable feedback on your recent stay. The area the hotel is located is certainly the developing end of the city at the moment, with a deal of development being the building of some extremely high rise apartment towers. This does mean work and activity during the day. These towers are also... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
