I recently took my teenage son and two of his mates to Melbourne for the June long weekend and decided to try this YHA Hostel. It suited our needs perfectly. To keep costs down we cooked our own meals in the hostel kitchen. What I was most impressed by was the amazing 360 degree view of Melbourne from the rooftop... More

For a hostel, this is pretty good. Location is walking distance from the city centre and facilities are great. Best part though? The rooftop area - great spot for a couple of drinks overlooking the Melbourne skyline.

the good: clean rooms, kitchen is most of the time clean, very nice view from top of the hostel! friendly and helpful staff the bad: location is ok, bit out of the city centre, next supermarket is 10min walking. The lift is extremely slow, never seen such a slow one.. but the stairs are good ;)

This is very good for a hostel style visit, esp if you are seeking a private room with ensuite. The room was very clean, with a TV and tea making facilities, and was at the rear so very quiet during the night. You have access to the kitchen and lounge area, so it provides a very comfortable place for a... More

Despite the title, it's actually my third stay at Melbourne Metro YHA. It sandwiched a 10 day trip to Melbs; and every time I come here, I discover something new. This hostel is easily accessible from the city centre. If you arrive on the Airport bus as I did, there is a free transfer service (which covers all such accommodation... More

This YHA is awesome. We stayed for 3 nights in a private ensuite room. We bought the $10 big breakfast and it was well worth it! A shirt tram trip to the city centre, walk to Queen Elizabeth markets for shopping. The staff were amazing and ever helpful. Would love to come and stay here again :)

I stayed here with my boyfriend for around 2/3 weeks in total with a 5 day trip to GOR in between. We were also here for the Grand Prix. I think if your only staying for a few nights it's great - the kitchen is the best I've cone across, always clean, always loads of tea towels and plenty of... More

This hostel was well spaced out with good facilities overall. The staff were friendly and the view from the roof is fantastic. I feel the one big thing they need is free WIFI which would improve value for money massively. Its fairly close to city and only a tram (57) away from most attractions of the city.

I stayed at the YHA Melbourne Metro for a few nights when I first moved to Melbourne. The hostel, while a little old, is very clean, and the beds are pretty comfortable for a hostel. It's close by to a couple of tram stops as well. That said, it's quite pricey, considering its age, and that it doesn't provide breakfast... More
