I stayed for 4 nights and had a standard room on the first floor. No major issues checking in and out. The room was clean and quiet, but faced the wall of the building next door so was pretty gloomy and not a place you would want to spend a lot of time in. Kitchen facilities were basic (I never... First impression on arrival - Young lady was very good (during the week), just what you would hope with greeting us. Room was good, adequately stocked, location fairly handy to transport. Then it all went downhill. On our 2nd morning we left our room as usual only to come back and find all our food had been taken (presumably thrown... More

We always stay here and been for quite a few years now. We have seen the Lygon being transformed to the lovely place it is now,it's a great place, you would pay twice the price for right in the city. Rooms super clean. Upon our arrival tonight we heard of the passing of Bob the owner. It will be sad... More

Stayed here with my mum for 3 nights. Room was good clean and had tea coffee fridge and toaster with bowls plates etc so could make breakfast if you want. Good shower. Our room was quiet not being on road side. Heaps of places to eat nearby mainly italian. Argyll square opposite nice wide tree lined street. Supermarket down the... More

The person behind the counter was great help. He was smiling all the time and made us feel welcome. He was even helping direct us while we were reversing the vehicle to park...and parking is free. Stones throw from dozens of eateries n queen Victoria market is close by. Great start to our visit to Melbourne.

The Location and proximity to the Royal Exhibition center is what sold me. and its an easy walk to the CBD. a Comfortable serviced apartment, and the Room I had was recently renovated, Clean and comfortable and more than enough room for a couple. The plethora of Italian and other restaurants is literally at the fount door. There is a... More

The room view on the 2nd story Lygon St Side is good Food on the street especially Papa mia pizza is amazing Near the trams to the CBD The laundry mat in the carpark is $6 for wash and $6 for dry which is a bit excessive but overall our experience was pleasurable.

Have stayed in Lygon Lodge a number of times. This visit only 2 nights. Had a room on the third floor at the back. Good choice because away from the noise of Lygon St. Not much of a view but did have a balcony so you can get outside. Would recommend a higher floor & one away from the front.... More

We just came back from Melbourne & stay 4 nights at Lygon Lodge. The staff are all very helpful & friendly. The location is right at Lygon Street & its one of the best location because we are surrounded by bars, cafe & lotsa of restaurant. We realise this street is call "little Italy" because there are many Italian restaurant.... More

The service is hit and miss. They don't provide towels on request. Some of the front desk staff is rude. Decent location. You have to walk a few blocks to get a cab though. The shower is nice and hot, and the heat and air conditioning work well. This is my second time staying here. I won't be staying here... More

Staying in Lygon Street

Neighborhood Profile
Lygon Street
If you want real parmesan, cut from the block, grated over your pasta with a twist of style, this is the place. Until recently, this neighborhood was home to the notorious ‘Carlton Crew,’ a pseudo mafia who started their day with a local espresso. They are gone, but the espresso still runs strong in this Little Italy which has something for everyone. Starched white tablecloths, candles, pizza the way they do it "back home" and maybe even a bit of amore. The number of gelato choices will leave you in a state of indecision and wide footpaths, big awnings and a sea of packed tables makes this al fresco dining experience a continental buzz. Even if you’re not eating, it’s worth the stroll just for the people-watching, which, of course, is an Italian tradition.
