Really should be a sub $100 a night room if it wasn't for the location. If you just want a bed to sleep in and not fussed about anything worse then this is fine. Wifi is good. Place seems secure. Bathrooms are small and general room and hotel is old but hey you get what you pay for

The rooms were dirty and poorly furnished. My sister was planning to sleep in a separate room, but it was icy cold and the heat didn't work. Worst of all, the outside door near her room was wide open at 10 PM. It wasn't safe there so she opted to sleep on the sleep sofa in our room, but there... More

Our stay here was what we expected. Knew it was an older hotel so expected tired, older decor & fittings. But our room (no.5) was just fine, clean, no smells, bed was comfy, everything worked & the bathroom looked like it had a makeover. Got a good night sleep as the room was quiet until breakfast when other guest started... More

My wife and I had a weekend in Melbourne and decided to stay at the magnolia court hotel instead of spending up big on a flash hotel in the CBD. We had stayed here before so knew what to expect eg free car parking, free wi fi, and a good honest breakfast thrown in for good measure. Sure the rooms... More

I've stayed here a number of times since 2008. I was very impressed back then with the value for money and the location. I believe it may have had a change of management in the intervening years, but I have found in the last couple of years that the breakfast offerings are not as nice and the whole place is... More

Very good value (breakfast and internet included in the price) and very good location. Not the flashest of hotels, rooms are small, but comfortable and clean. Very close to the CBD, within walking distance if you feel athletic, or there is a train station and tram stop two blocks to the south, and another tram stop two blocks to the... More

Stayed here years ago. Lovely old home operating as hotel in leafy, lovely East Melbourne. Incredibly handy to the city (10 mins walk to Exhibition St via the pretty Fitzroy Gardens), handy to Collingwood and the MCG. Trams 5 mins up the road. Staff very pleasant. A surprisingly good continental breakfast. Lovely breakfast room overlooking pretty garden. Some creaky floorboards... More

Good location. Pleasant surroundings. 15 minute walk to the CBD or tram close by. Staff very helpful. I had to leave each day before breakfast was available so I was supplied with cereal and bread for toasting in my room. Tea /coffee making, toaster, microwave in the room. If you are there at breakfast time, there was a fairly large... More

Would I stay here again? Yes Highlight: Location is great, 2-room suite had a refrigerator, kettle, and microwave. Low point: In-room heaters didn't work, housekeeping was loud, property is run down. This has the potential to be an incredibly lovely property but falls short. The room was perfectly serviceable and spacious, but there was too much furniture crammed into the... More

Great location on the doorstep of the MCG but I guess for a budget hotel not everything is perfect..... Double bed mattress like concrete.. Be aware, but everything else fine. It's basic facilities but the quiet location and proximity to the city is great..
