I was staying for the Grand Prix and wanted my stay to be one to remember. I had read the reviews about the smaller room and was quite concerned about what i would be receiving. Then i turned up and and stayed 4 amazing nights in a room that was larger then my own home. Each and every time i... more

My partner and I had a very nice stay at the Somerset Gordon Place. We stayed in the smallest room which was adapted to our needs as we spent most of our time discovering the city and surroundings. The room was quite tiny but lovely and clean. The hotel situation is good, a few minutes walk from China Town where... more

Interesting layout, decent rooms. Free laundary in the room a huge plus. Good location for trams and Chinatown. On a quiet street (for most of the streets in the city, there is a companion "Little" version - i.e., this hotel is on "Little Bourke Street", which is the quieter sister street to the busier "Bourke Street"). There is a good... more

we stayed for a week over Xmas in a 2 bed top floor apartment that could not be faulted. The staff were all extremely helpful nothing was too much trouble for them and they were even apologetic about the hail on Xmas day!! Great location for chinatown , shops, trams etc. Friends of ours stayed in the Elizabeth Street apartments... more

We stayed at Somerset on Gordon for eight nights and moved rooms twice. We had booked a one bedroom apartment with an extra bed for a friend who was staying a few nights for a concert. The first room although it was meant to be a one bedroom was tiny and basically a studio apartment. We moved to another room,... more

The service and professionalism of this place is a problem. Brochures in the room state that their onsite spa is open from 8am to 8pm. I tried calling at 8am, 10am, noon, and 7pm and was told that nobody was at the spa and it was closed. Finally, I asked the front desk to contact them and ask them to... more

We stayed here for 6 days in January 2006, in the second week of the Australian Open. The staff were friendly and helpful. Great location - just a short walk to most places we wanted to visit in Melbourne, while the free City Circle trams stopped 5 minutes walk away. Based in Chinatown, so plenty of good local restaurants, like... more

We stayed here on NYE and the night after. The main selling point was the extremely good price, considering that it was NYE and that other hotels in the heart of the city were charging a premium. Each night was AU 165 for a studio and no breakfast. Other good points were the location at the eastern end of Little... more

Stayed in a studio apartment booked through Wotif. As previous reviews mentioned, very compact room: small kitchenette/entryway, hallway/wardrobe adjoining bathroom (toilet, basin, good shower, unfortunately very little benchtop space) and bedroom (comfortable dble bed, one bedside table and lamp, TV/DVD player on small table). Recently refurbished room very clean with pleasant decor. Beautiful building, Staff friendly but not very knowledgable... more

Stay here if you'd like a nice, snug place in a great location not too far from the CBD and other attractions. As others have mentioned, the spaces can be rather small sometimes, so be mindful of that. For some reason, we had some leaking in our bathroom from the ceiling, but nothing terrible. We found the staff to be... more
