Booked my scandinavian parents here for 2 nights before a cruise departing Melbourne 11 Jan 2010. I have always liked the location of the hotel, very good. I rang my parents (I live in Sydney)after the first night and my moher was horrified as she said she had been bitten and had several marks on her leg, stomach and arms.... more

This hotel is very old and was definately not value for money. Our room was small, our shower didn't work, we had to wear thongs in the shower and our room stank. The hotel is in a good location but I would still advise not to go here. more

In Jan 2010 I stayed in a Single Economy room. I only stayed for one night. Economy rooms are quite small and do not have bathrooms in the rooms - showers and toilets are up the corridor, though the room still comes with a basin, fridge, fan, bar heater, small wardrobe, desk, basic coffee and tea facilities. The economy rooms... more

For location in the very heart of Melbourne, this is a great hotel. However, you do need to factor in to the equation the number of rabbit warren like corridors that are often needed to find your room. Forget about scenic views of Melbourne. My room was small, functional and clean. The concierge was friendly and helpful. The only food... more

Contrary to what some have said, I actually found this to be quite a nice hotel, and a lot better than I expected! The location is awesome - right in the heart of the city, close to shops, restaurants and public transport. The room and bathroom were a bit small, but still comfortable, and being recently refurbished, the room was... more

We booked a room in advance. When we entered it after the long flight from Europe, we just went right back down to reception. It was a room that had not yet been refurbished and looked more like a backpacker hostel room - not one of the really bad kind, but certainly not worth the money we were paying. Just... more

Small rooms, not like in the pictures was a bit disappointed with it although it was very centrally located being walking distance to everything. 5 min walk to Theatre and Shops. Excellent Location! Thai Restaurant next door has the best chips I've ever had! more

My husband and I stayed at the victoria hotel sat 21st Nov, and we wer very impressed. The location is perfect. We stayed in the heritage block, and our room although facing other windows was airy, roomy and spotlessly clean. The bathroom was roomy and ample hot water. The mattress and bedding were clean crisp and comfortable. In the morning we... more

Yes, the location is great, and the price is attractive for the location. But here is the deal to explain the price: all the rooms facing inside are blind, and all the rooms facing the street have their windows sealed. As a result, the air is NEVER recycled, even in the smoking rooms, and is stale and dusty. The air... more

Having read the reviews I was a little nervous about our stay, but it had been booked by someone who had been many times. Turns out there was nothing to fear! We stayed in the upgraded Heritage rooms, which for the price were fabulous. Yes, there was a little walk to the rooms, but providing you can read numbers and... more
