We stay at "The Vic" every year when we visit Melbourne for the International Comedy Festival. The hotel is clean and bright with comfortable rooms. Friendly, helpful, relaxed staff make for an enjoyable stay. Being well priced for such a great CBD location just makes this hotel perfect.

I recently spent 4 nights at the Victoria and can not speak highly enough of this hotel. What lies behind that 'average' looking front facade is fantastic. The hotel is situated right in the middle of the CBD. A fantastic location. The staff are amazing. I especially want to mention Rubi. She could not do enough for us. Also Ben... More

Have stayed at The Vic several times - once again had a fantastic experience. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, nothing was an issue. Had a Queen room and although not huge, had everthing I needed, couldn't fault a thing. Serviced daily to a very high standard. The Vic is so close to everything - easy walking distance to... More

...than my last visit 20 years ago. My single room was smallish but not a cupboard. Clean as a whistle, quiet in the east wing. Comfy king sized single bed. Price was good and Club Membership gave me free wifi. All in all perfect for a solo traveller.

My partner and I stayed at this hotel, and we couldn't fault it at all. The hotel is in a brilliant location, and the staff were all fantastic. The restaurant next door to the hotel had beautiful food. We'll definitely stay here again!!

My Sister and I stayed here for 2 nights. We were greeted kindly reception. Our rooms were a lovely surprise. Very roomy and clean. The bathroom was modern. The beds were comfortable. For a budget hotel we found it to be excellent. Could not fault it. Has its own Restaurant. Such a great location. Close to all the things we... More

Stayed here for 4 nights on a business trip and found it a good central base in cbd. Room was clean, well maintained and quite comfortable. Did not use restaurant as there are loads of nearby eateries and options. A warm welcome on arrival and efficient check-in and out. Happily recommended to other travellers.

Very comfortable rooms that were well serviced on a daily basis. Front office people were very helpful. We were on a lower floor without any views however this was not a problem as we did not spend much time in the room. The hotel is very centrally situated in Melbourne CBD which made getting around very easy.

The room was ok but kinda smallish. Bed and pillow was uncomfortable for me but the bathroom was manageable. Its excellent location within the CBD made up for these shortcomings. Nevertheless, a good stay where you pay what you get. Note there is no free wifi unless you are an accor hotel member.

Hotel is located centrally so transport was easy. Staff members are excellent, room was a bit tiny. Shower was alright I found temperature hard to adjust. Room is clean and bed is comfortable. Good for just sleeping. If you want to leave your luggage for whatever reason they have coin operated lockers. $5 for 5hours or $7 for 24hours. Considering... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
