Well situated for anyone wanting to explore downtown Melbourne. Friendly staff and comfortable rooms. Wi-Fi issues encountered colour my review, but in all a very nice place to spend a few days. "Superior" category room did not provide a view as all the windows were covered with a diffusing film so you couldn't see the unattractive inner courtyard and machinery.

I was so disappointed with this hotel. The exterior looks very grand but inside the room I was given was dark, small, the bathroom was 1980's style, the carpet was faded, the furniture dusty and the stand alone old fashioned air conditioner was really struggling in the heat. I would not recommend this hotel nor return until it undergoes a... More

What a wonderful surprise to receive an upgrade to the Queen Victoria suite - spacious, clean and very comfortable. Yummy breakfast with a very tasty tea that you can buy on premises. Cannot fault this stay at all - thank you.

Two night stay after 5* stay at Amora in Sydney and now in Park Hyatt in Melbourne. No comparison between these hotels and the Windsor. The Windsor is a grand old hotel but our room on the first floor was accessed through a tired corridor, room small but that was expected. The air-conditioning failed to cool the room, despite the... Stayed at the hotel Windsor with my husband and 2 year old son. We had booked to stay in one of the suites. The hotel looks grand when you arrive at the front. We had read the hotel is hoping to get permission for an upgrade so we understood that the interior may look slightly tired. The carpets looked threadbare... More

We stayed here for a few nights at what we're very reasonable rates in what is probably their most basic room. Nevertheless the stay was very enjoyable, very friendly and helpful staff, everything clean, great atmosphere (quietist, somewhat refined). The place will need some refreshing soon, some signs of wear and tear here and there, but overall we had a... More

I liked this hotel, it has its character, very elegant and classic. The rooms are clean and staff was very polite and helpful. I was very happy to see that they offer complimentary choice of different type of pillows which was great. Every time we needed something the staff was prompt to accommodate us. Our room and especially bathroom needs... More

We arrived on our honeymoon to the hotel Windsor. Right after we arrived to the room they had a person of the staff knock on our bedroom and deliver a hand signed card wishing us the best. Not only they they then provided us a bottle of champagne! We highly recommend this hotel and there staff. They were very attentive... More

A famous landmark in Melbourne combined with relaxed service, a fantastic position for sightseeing & a great breakfast. 5 minutes from a great range of cafes, restaurants and rooftop bars, lots of shopping, lovely parks to wander through & a tram stop across the road. Tradional but also hip to be cool.

Chose the Windsor for a last minute overnight stay, had always been on our to do list. The hotel exudes old world charm and is very laid back and extremely comfortable. The location is extremely convenient with tram stops at the doorstop. Pre dinner drinks in the Cricketers Bar was very enjoyable in a great setting. Will definitely revisit.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
